Why grab your morning coffee at Big Bucks when you could spend your time and money helping local pets? The first of their kind in the country, two new LA outposts let you canoodle with cats and dogs. Reservations are recommended!
The Dog Cafe At The Dog Cafe, you can order up a latte and then pal around with rescue dogs looking for their forever homes. The ingenious idea is meant to provide a "comfortable and fun space for humans and dogs to hang out with each other away from overcrowded shelters." While helping needy pets find homes, The Dog Cafe is also heaven for people who aren't able to keep a furry friend at home. Reservations are the only way to guarantee entry and can be made online. Fee per person: $10 for 55 minutes. Drinks are sold separately.

Crumbs & Whiskers
It's a similar concept at the new Crumbs & Whiskers cafe on Melrose, but here you'll be cuddling with cats up for adoption from Karma Rescue. The reservation fee for 75 minutes is $22-25, with proceeds benefiting local shelters, and you can order up coffee drinks and sweets. But don't be surprised if you go home with a feline in your purse; 134 cats have been adopted to date.

Volunteer with Beagles & Buddies

 Looking for a fun and rewarding way to help pets in need? Beagles & Buddies sanctuary is recruiting loving volunteers to help with a variety of hands-on tasks that directly benefit shelter dogs. Located in Apple Valley, the 15-acre sanctuary is proud to have rescued, rehabbed and re-homed more than 17,000 dogs over the past 25 years. Volunteers help with a wide variety of very necessary "chores," including brushing, bathing, walking, socializing, giving tummy rubs and spending time with some of the newcomers.
