HELP WADE HOUSE GET READY FOR SPRING,
MAY 14 & 15!

Greenbush - On Saturday and Sunday, May 14-15, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., visitors to the Wade House historic site in Greenbush will have the opportunity to help the site get ready for spring during the annual "Plowing, Planting and Play" event. Guests will help prepare the entire site including the 1850s stagecoach hotel for our 163rd summer season by engaging in multiple, hands-on spring activities.

horse-drawn sulky plows, including plows made by John Deere, McCormick, and International. On the side lawns of Wade House, quilts will be aired out, and ticks (coarse cotton mattresses) will be filled with straw. Outdoor toys and games will be available for guests to play the pioneer way. Visitors will get to roll hoops, play graces and walk on stilts. In the garden, vegetables will be planted using heirloom seeds. While inside the 27-room hotel, the floors of all the rooms will be swept, and the delightful aroma of fried apples will waft out from the hotel's 19th-century kitchens enticing guests to these culinary spaces.
On Saturday only, Alan Pape, former Director of Wade House Historic Site, will give a presentation about log cabin building on the Wisconsin frontier at 1 p.m. at the Wade House Visitor Center. Pape will discuss cabin building, historic tools, and projects that he has completed around the state.

Visitors will begin the special experience at the new Wade House Visitor Center and Wesley W. Jung Carriage Museum, located at W7965 State Highway 23.
