Experience the magic of a 19th-century holiday at Old World Wisconsin
Eagle, Wis. - Old World Wisconsin will be hosting a 19th-century holiday celebration during the first two weekends in December the 5-6 and the 12-13. This fun and festive celebration will let guests walk through the village that will be trimmed for the holidays and enjoy many activities that capture the merriment of the holiday season.
"Guests can enjoy brief, live holiday performances of 19th-century favorites like, "Yes, Virginia, There is a Santa Claus," "The Gift of the Magi," and Hans Christian Andersen's "The Little Match Girl" and "The Snow Man." said Dan Freas, director of Old World Wisconsin. "Plus, there will be free old-fashioned horse-drawn bobsled rides (or wagon, if snow isn't in the forecast) through the 1800s crossroads village and a chance to meet a one of a kind 19th-century Santa Claus."
The homes, shops and businesses at Old World Wisconsin will be decked for the holidays in the manner of the era, with wood-burning stoves beckoning guests with warmth and homemade holiday treats to sample. And even the sauna at the Ketola farmstead will be fired up, as the original settlers would have done.
Make it an entire day by enjoying an Old World Breakfast which features a robust breakfast buffet, special holiday performance and an opportunity to have a photo with Father Christmas. Pre-registration is required to attend the Old World Holiday Breakfast.
