Guests Can Party Like it's 1899 (and  earlier!): Three Days of  19th-Century Fun, Games and Patriotic Activities at

 "Independence Day Celebration"

July 3-5, 10 am to 5 pm

Eagle, Wis.--Old World Wisconsin is offering a one-of-a-kind way to celebrate our nation's independence with the three-day "Independence Day Celebration," July 3-5, 10 am to 5 pm.

On each of these days guests may try climbing a greased pole, help hand-crank (and sample!) ice cream, enter the pie-eating contest and dig their heels in for an old-fashioned tug-o-war contest.

July 4 Activities

On July 4 the Grand Parade through the 1880s village begins at 1:30 pm and features people, animals, and the Harmony Cornet Band, which plays songs from the era on period instruments--and only comes together once a year on this date. Some lucky guests will be invited to ride in the horse-drawn omnibus and all may witness the new Broom Brigade. Visitors may also enjoy the popular hymn sing, patriotic exercises, and the Community Band concert, featuring songs from the era.

Guests of all ages are welcome to join in the historic games, including egg toss, old-fashioned races, Topfschlagen (hit the pot), parlor games and even giant pickup sticks. Lemonade and hand-cranked ice cream sampling, wreath and garland making and even sailing boats in wash tubs round out the fun.

Country Village Picnic, July 5 Only

Guests may purchase and enjoy a picnic in the 1880s village, just as was done over a century ago. No reservations required. Noon to 2 pm. Adults (13-64) $15; children (4-12) $8; children under 4 are free.
