Learn about Milwaukee's remarkable first professional championship team, the 1944 Chicks of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. Milwaukee baseball historian, Jim Nitz, describes how the Chicks were built to win the AAGPBL, the league depicted in the hit 1992 movie "A League of Their Own."

Find out why the Chicks left town for Grand Rapids after only one year at historic Borchert Field. Through photos, videos, and oral history, discover the Milwaukee Chicks' star ballplayers such as Connie "Iron Woman" Wisniewski, Mickey Maguire, Viola "Tommy" Thompson and Gabby Ziegler, their Hall of Fame manager, Max Carey, and their esteemed chaperone, Dottie Hunter.

Before the presentation, enjoy a baseball stadium-themed dinner catered by Blue Plate Catering.

Baseball Stadium-Themed Menu:

  • Classic Hot Dog with bun, ketchup, mustard, relish
  • BBQ Pulled Pork & BBQ Portabella Mushroom Sliders on Pretzel Buns
  • Walking Taco - bags of Cheesy Doritos (top cut off) with assorted toppings to include seasoned ground beef, chopped lettuce, chopped tomatoes, shredded cheddar cheese salsa & sour cream.
  • Popcorn
  • Cracker Jacks boxes
