Book Reading at Special Collections Library August 22
Former EDo resident and continuing EDo property owner Amy Shea has published her second book. Please join your neighbors and bring your family and friends to hear her read excerpts from this exciting new work. Given her globe-trotting lifestyle as an international brand manager, it's sure to be eclectic and compelling!
Please Join the EDo Neighborhood Association and The Special Collections Library
Wednesday August 22, 2012 6:30 p.m.
as Amy Shea reads from and signs her collection of short stories
Defending Happiness and Other Acts of Bravery
at Botts Hall Special Collections Library 423 Central Avenue NE (at Edith)
"Every moment of this book had me gushing with one emotion or another. If I wasn't laughing out loud (on a plane making people stare), I was sobbing (this time in a waiting room, making people worry) because even if I hadn't exactly been through the eact scenario Amy had, her words made me live it as if I could see, hear, smell exactly what she had in life's most precious challenges." - Amazon Book Reviewer |
Huning Highland Neighborhood Picnic - August 19th
You are cordially invited to the 3d Annual Huning Highland Neighborhood Picnic, where you'll be entertained by the local Band "FM." You can observe a unicycle demo, have a beer and assorted picnic food delights, and meet up with many others. The community garden is in full bloom and the community chickens are laying eggs! Huning Highland is Albuquerque's only historic Victorian neighborhood (1880-1920), and is the yin to EDo's yang. Come enjoy the picnic and walk the shaded neighborhood streets.

Lowe's Grocery Under Renovation
The Lowe's Grocery at 11th & Lomas is under complete renovation. Scheduled to be completed October 1st, the new store will have a completely new exterior look, a much expanded produce section, more organics, full beer/wine/spirits, and even a sushi bar! As we continue to seek our own specialty (or larger) grocer for EDo, we do encourage you to check out the new Lowe's. Kudos to Roger Lowe and his team, and to Susan & Richard Deichsel and the Downtown Neighborhood Association for making this happen!
