Remembering Dad and Sharing Memories

Father's Day is just around the corner, and ads telling us to "Celebrate Dads and Grads" seem to be everywhere we go.

This time of year can also be busy with weddings, vacations, graduation celebrations, and other gatherings that highlight the loss of a person in your life who has died.

Children and teens in TCR programs have the opportunity to share their experiences and memories with each other through conversations, play, and the use of expressive arts.

No matter our age or our loss, it is helpful to know that we are not alone in our grief.

Join our Father's Day conversation on Facebook to share memories or ideas for remembering your special person.

"Memories That Move Us"
Join us for TCR's Annual Memories Walk

Anyone is welcome to join in this inspirational and family-friendly event!

Sunday, October 25th
10:30am at Arlington Town Hall

Our community of families, volunteers, staff, and supporters gathers together each year to walk in memory of loved ones and to support the essential programs of The Children's Room.

Create your own personalized fundraising page when you register. Fundraising for the Walk is easy to do and a great way to share the mission of The Children's Room with family, friends, and colleagues.

Teens Connect at Soccer Outing

Our Teen Programming continues to bring together teens who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling to connect and share their experiences.

In May, a group of teens and TCR staff attended a New England Revolution soccer game in Foxborough.

Many thanks to Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots, for providing tickets to the game as well as supporting TCR's expanded Teen Programming.

Transportation to and from the game was generously donated by Brian Connor of LifeLine Ambulance Service and Coach Line Transportation.

Tufts Theater Troupe Gives to TCR

Tufts Traveling Treasure Trunk performance group
Tufts Traveling Treasure Trunk, a student theater troupe at Tufts University, recently gave a performance at TCR for young children served in our program.
Tufts Traveling Treasure Trunk performance group

The troupe performs in greater Boston elementary schools throughout the school year. Instead of receiving a payment, they ask schools to make a donation to a nonprofit.

Trunk chose TCR as their "nonprofit of the year," resulting in over $2,000 in donations to The Children's Room.

Thank you, Tufts Traveling Treasure Trunk, for your support and your special performance at The Children's Room!

Appreciating
Our Interns

We will miss our 7 wonderful interns who have been working with us since the fall!

Through our internship program, graduate and undergraduate students gain experience in facilitating grief support programs for children, teens, and families.

We're grateful for all they have accomplished at TCR and wish them the best of luck!

Volunteer Training

Volunteer facilitators' caring presence and willingness to be with the children and families in the midst of their grief is the cornerstone of the support we offer at TCR.

Applications are being accepted for our Fall 2015 Volunteer Facilitator Training, which starts Friday, September 11th.

Application is required to attend, and completion of training does not guarantee group placement.

All applicants with interest in volunteering in our family peer support groups must complete the mandatory training.
