Sharing the Care on National Child and Youth Mental Health Day, May 7th
Come together to support mental wellness
National Child and Youth Mental Health Day, led by the Institute of Families, seeks to increase public awareness and acknowledgement of the thousands of children, youth, and families needing mental health support and care across Canada. Organizations all over the country will be hosting events that support the mental health of kids by connecting them to parents and caring adults. The Healthy in Nature website was developed by the BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) to support community leaders to connect people of all ages to the outdoors. The site offers resources and materials to support healthy activities in nature, and it also provides a platform for individuals to collaborate online with others involved in outdoor initiatives. Janice Lee Blue Wave Bursary
Bursary launched for youth with experience of mental health or substance use problems
Blue Wave, the youth mental health program of the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division, has released its annual bursary. The Janice Lee Blue Wave bursary is for youth under age 19 with experience of mental health or substance use problems who are going on to post-secondary education in BC. The application deadline is May 28th, 2015. Click here for more information.
