Movies for the Classroom: Bully
|
Shown at the Projecting Change Film Festival, "Bully" is a documentary that follows five kids and families over the course of a school year. The film offers insight into the often cruel world of the lives of bullied children. Purchase the video on iTunes, then support your class and school with provincial positive mental health support program ERASE.

Kelty Mental Health Summer Institute

Save the date! The 4th Annual Summer Institute is a two-day event that will bring together all members of the school community from districts across BC to exchange ideas about how to promote student mental health and well-being. Mark August 22nd - 23rd, 2013 on your calendar!

How Can You Build a More Mindful Community?

In February, nearly 200 students and teachers from over 30 different high schools across BC came together for an inspirational day of dialogue at the first Youth Summit: Building a Mindful Community
The students were asked two questions throughout the day: "How can we build a more mindful community?" and "What is your role?" Are you curious about what the students had to say?

Creating win-win situations at Alpha Secondary
Each month, DASH shines a spotlight on a member of the healthy schools community making a difference in BC schools. This month, DASH is pleased to introduce Josh Ogilvie from Alpha Secondary School in SD #41, Burnaby. Josh is a Physical Education teacher and program coordinator for the SD #41 Fitness and Leadership Program, and is also an active member of the Healthy Schools Network. iWalk 2013- Registration Opens May 15th!
Sign up to celebrate the many benefits of walking to school
International Walk to School Week is coming to B C October 7th to 11th, so prepare your walking shoes! Hosted in partnership by DASH and HASTe BC, iWalk is a weeklong event from October 7th to 11th that gives students, parents, school teachers and community leaders an opportunity to be part of a global event to celebrate the many benefits of walking to school. GEN7 program supports Aboriginal students and communities
GEN7 is a community-based program designed for Aboriginal youth and the unique challenges they face. The program pairs trained Aboriginal athletes called GEN7 Messengers with an Aboriginal community to act as role models and motivators for the youth of that community. BC Agriculture in the Classroom Announces New Partnership with BC Dairy Association Milk products added to the BC School Fruit and Vegetable Nutritional Program
The BC Agriculture in the Classroom Foundation and the BC Dairy Association have announced that the BC Ministry of Health will be providing funding of $1 million to the BC School Fruit and Vegetable Nutritional Program to provide milk to K-2 classes around the province.
