Stranded Knitting is a technique that uses two or more colors in a row. Fair Isle is an example of stranded knitting.

Fair Isle is a traditional knitting technique used to create patterns with multiple colors. It is named after Fair Isle, a tiny island in the north of Scotland, that forms part of the Shetland islands. This week, I've linked some beautiful examples of Fair Isle style knitting from Ravelry.

Designer Varian Brandon specializes in Stranded Knitting and has a lot of tutorials on her website
