We want to provide support in your time of need!

Sunday's Scripture Snippet
If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless, you shall serve as my mouth. It is they who will turn to you, not you who will turn to them.

Christian DJ to Perform at St. John's Youth Rally
The Middle & High School Pep Rally is getting ready to kick off at 6:00 p.m. in the Middle Division gym on September 7. One of the attractions for the event will be entertainment and lighting donated by DJ Jason and Associates. Owner Jason Martinez is a Christian who provides DJ services and much more in the Tampa Bay area.
When approached about performing at St. John's Youth Pep Rally, Jason didn't hesitate to offer his services. "I believe we have been brought together by Chirst for this event," he said. He went on to explain that he loves working with youth groups such as St. John's. DJ Jason and Associates offers all sorts of options, including wedding entertainment, light shows, live performances, videography and more.
"I know our congregation will appreciate what Jason is doing for our youth. He is extremely talented, organized, and professional. He even plays edited versions of today's music to make them more inline with Christian values," says Lionel Lowry, who is chairing the rally.

Parents, youth in grades 6 through 12 are invited to join the congregation in church each Sunday rather than having Sunday School at that time. Why? An outcome of the Youth and Children's Ministry Visioning Retreat of last April and the subsequent focus of our Youth Renovation Team is on enhancing our Sunday evening youth activities. These Sunday evening meetings are designed to be both fun and spiritually fulfilling, with games and fellowship, as well as Bible study and discussion. We believe this philosophical choice meets all the varied needs of our youth, in a forum to which they will best respond. However, if we find youth need a deeper dive into their spirituality, we will provide additional activities in the future. Youth activities on Sundays begin for the fall on September 21st, 4:30 p.m. for middle school and 6:00 p.m. for high school.

Men's Thursday Interactive Bible Study and Lunch (Peterson Room)
"I discovered later, and I'm still discovering right up to this moment, that is it only by living completely in this world that one learns to have faith. By this-worldliness I mean living unreservedly in life's duties, problems, successes and failures. In so doing we throw ourselves completely into the arms of God, taking seriously, not our own sufferings, but those of God in the world. That, I think, is faith." -- Dietrich Bonhoeffer
The Men's Interactive Bible Study and Lunch group will continue their fall series on Thursday, September 11, at 11:45 a.m. in the Peterson Room.
Lunch is sandwiches at $5 per person. RSVP to dlrncrtpa@verizon.net if you would like to partake.

Women's Mid Morning Bible Study (Lowry Room)
Women of St. John's, friends and neighbors are invited to participate in a fall study entitled "Psalms: Songs for the Soul," based on a curriculum developed by the Rev. Gwynne Johnson (Lutheran). The psalms are a rich resource that can guide our prayers, our thinking and our life choices. They have something to teach us about each of life's seasons: times of comfort, times of difficulty and times of resolution. Each lesson will focus on a theme and psalms that speak to it.
The study continues September 16 at 10:30 a.m. in the Lowry Room, and will continue on alternate Tuesdays through December 9. For more information contact either Joan McKay at MCKAYJHM@aol.com or Pat Wilson at 644.4640 or patwilson68@tampabay.rr.com.
