The Vestry is very thrilled that Fr. Connelly has accepted this call to serve Saint John's.look forward to continued renewal and growth under his guidance.

We Welcome Mother Alice Sadler,
St. John's New Associate Rector

The Rev. Charles Connelly is pleased to announce that the Rev. Alice Sadler has accepted the position of Associate Rector beginning September 1. This is a one-year position in which she will replace Doug Zimmerman.

Mother Alice joined Trinity-by-the Cove in Naples, FL as Associate Rector for Pastoral Care and Adult Christian Formation in 2001.  Her education includes a BA in Education, Erskine College; Master of Education; UNC - Charlotte and Master of Divinity; Trinity Episcopal School for Ministry.

With a varied work history, she has been an elementary school teacher, industrial engineer, systems analyst in the banking industry and the manager of technology systems training for an international insurance company.  Mother Alice left the corporate world to answer a call as team leader for short term missions in India, Kenya, Uganda, Egypt, Rwanda and Burundi.

Her passion for ministry is rooted in God's reconciling and healing love through Jesus Christ as we are guided by the Holy Spirit.  The rector of Trinity-in-the-Cove, the Rev. Michael Basden, recently wrote about Mother Alice: "While her work primarily has involved Adult Formation and Pastoral Care, what stands out among all of her contributions to Trinity-by-the-Cove is her earnest love and concern for all of us.  Alice's foundation for her priesthood is her love and commitment to Jesus Christ.  She has shared this love with us in so many ways.  It is this incarnate love that means the most to me and is something that I will continue to hold dearly."

We welcome Mother Alice to the St. John's family!

Authentic: The Developing Disciplines of a Sincere Faith

A new 7-week DVD series and small group study

Has hypocrisy crept into your life? It doesn't just happen overnight. Drifting into hypocrisy is a long, drawn-out journey away from God's best for your life and toward a two-faced existence. How do you know when your inner self has deteriorated? When you've become an expert at presenting a faithful-looking facade? Hold up the mirror of God's word and take a good look.

Acting like a Christian and saying all the right words sometimes leads to nothing more than empty piety. If you want to live that vibrant life, if you want to be truly blessed, you must get after the disciplines of genuine faith.  Follow along with Pastor James MacDonald on the road toward truth and explore the disciplines of personal Bible study, personal prayer, fasting, fellowship, and service for Christ. Become the real deal. Be authentic.

One reviewer wrote of the series: "Be genuine in your faith. As a Christian, do you just talk a good talk, or do you put action to your words and live out what you read in the Bible? Many times, we know all the words, but getting the knowledge from our minds to our hearts and body stops us cold. James MacDonald looks into this problem in Authentic: Developing the Disciplines of a Sincere Faith." For a review of this series on YouTube go to this web address: Authentic - Develop the Disciplines of a Sincere Faith - YouTube

This group meets each Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Bring a Bible, a covered dish to share, and an open heart and mind. Contact Paul and Winkie Game at pgamefla@aol.com for details.
