Faure Requiem To Be Performed by St. John's Choir

Composed between 1887 and 1890, this famous and haunting setting of the Roman Catholic Mass for the Dead is the best-known of Faur's large works, and was performed at his own funeral.. The most famous movement is the soprano aria "Pie Jesu." It was not performed in the United States until 1931, and only then at a student concert at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. Do join us for this concert at 5:00 p.m. on Palm Sunday, April 13, for a fitting way to mark the beginning of Holy Week.
