Rally Day Round-Up Wrap-Up

A wonderful day was had by all who attended our annual Rally Day!  A performance by our choir, a tasty biscuit sandwich breakfast, many meals prepared for our friends at Faith Cafe at Sandwich Sunday, games for the kids, and so much more highlighted the morning.  More than 50 ministries were represented, first by a banner processional into the church, and then with flyers, treats, and smiling faces in the parish hall following the 9:00 a.m. service.  We hope you found your perfect fit for activities this year at St. John's!  Click here to download your copy of the Ministry Handbook.

And mark your calendar for the next meeting, Tuesday, November 15 at 4:00 p.m., when we will discuss the book The Mirrored World, by Debra Dean. From Amazon: "The critically acclaimed author of The Madonnas of Leningrad ("Elegant and poetic, the rare kind of book that you want to keep but you have to share" -Isabel Allende), Debra Dean returns with The Mirrored World, a breathtaking novel of love and madness set in 18th century Russia. Transporting readers to St. Petersburg during the reign of Catherine the Great, Dean brilliantly reconstructs and reimagines the life of St. Xenia, one of Russia's most revered and mysterious holy figures, in a richly told and thought-provoking work of historical fiction that recounts the unlikely transformation of a young girl, a child of privilege, into a saint beloved by the poor."

Stewardship Corner

"Primero Dios!" is a phrase frequently heard in Latino ministry. It is loosely translated into English as "First of all, there is God!" signifying an awareness that God is within us and can be trusted to provide for our personal wellbeing, our families and children, our livelihood and future. Our relationship with God is one of gratitude for all these blessings, from the basic necessities- housing, food, medical care and education- to the opportunities for a brighter future benefiting our children and, in turn, our communities.

As we near St. John's Pledge Sunday, we will provide you with writings from other Christians weekly as we all ponder the responsibility and blessing of providing financial support to our church.  To download the entire inspirational flyer for this week's stewardship narrative, click here.

Candle and Flowers Available

On Sunday, November 17, and Sundays, December 8 and 22, the candle in the sanctuary light is available.  On Sunday, December 1, the church altar Advent greenery is available.  If you would like to take any of these opportunities to support St. John's and honor a loved one, please call the parish offices at 259.1570.
