We want to provide support in your time of need!
Current health regulations prohibit the members of our clergy from being informed when our parishioners are in the hospital, and unfortunately, one of the gifts of ordination is not mind-reading... However, we want to provide support for you and your loved ones in any time of need or crisis. Please call the parish offices at 259.1570 or email
parish@stjohnstampa.org to let us know when you need us!

Wednesday Nights at St. John's (Rudisill Parish Hall)
A new topic is being presented: It's Personal A four session DVD by Andy Stanley You don't have to understand everything to believe in something...
This powerful series is directed to men and women who desire a personal connection with God, but who have genuine questions, doubts, and concerns. In his creative and casual style, Andy Stanley makes a case for the fact that adults don't become followers of Christ by getting all their questions answered. In most instances, something happens that shrinks those questions. and that something is always personal.
If there are obstacles that make it difficult for you to embrace the message of Jesus, or if circumstances have derailed your confidence in God, you may walk away with the feeling that this series was designed specifically for you. And perhaps it was.
After all, it's personal. Andy Stanley is the son of Dr. Charles F. Stanley, the senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Atlanta and founder of InTouch Ministries. Andy received a bachelor's degree of journalism from Georgia State University and later earned a Master's degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. After working for several years as Associate Pastor and Minister to Students at First Baptist Atlanta, he and five others founded North Point Community Church in 1995. The church has now grown to five campuses and over 24,000 attendees each week, making it the second largest church in the United States.
Bring your study Bible, a covered dish, and an open heart and mind for fellowship and stimulating conversation. Contact Paul and Winkie Game at pgamefla@aol.com for more details.

Feast Day Facts Monday, July 22, The Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene
Mary of Magdala was one of several women who followed Jesus and ministered to him in Galilee, after he cast seven demons from her. She is well known in the present day in large part because of her role as a supporting character in several 20th century films and stage plays about the life of Jesus. Much of the contention over Mary in these modern pieces is due to her depiction as a "wayward woman." She was not referred to in this way until Pope Gregory the Great's homily on Luke's gospel, dated September 14, 591, and this reading of her story was subsequently explicitly rejected by the church. However, this rejection did not occur until 1969, and despite it, the depiction has persisted to this day.
One tradition concerning Mary Magdalene says that following the death and resurrection of Jesus, she gained an invitation to a banquet given by Tiberius. When she met him, she held a plain egg in her hand and exclaimed, "Christ is risen!" Caesar laughed, and said that Christ rising from the dead was as likely as the egg in her hand turning red while she held it. Before he finished speaking, the egg turned bright red. She continued proclaiming the Gospel to the entire imperial house.
St. John's will celebrate the Feast of Saint Mary Magdalene with a 12:15 p.m. Eucharist in the chapel. Join us to honor this strong woman of the early church!
