Breakfast with the Principal
Principal Brett Niarchos would like to invite GWIS community members/parents to Glenwood to have a light continental breakfast with him and your child to discuss needs, issues, concerns as well as positives. Glenwood will be providing this opportunity once a month for 10 to12 community members. Interested community members should contact Lynn Kovacs at 330-491-3780 to secure a spot. Teaching-Team Weekly Update
Please make sure that you are receiving your child's teaching team weekly email update. Every teaching team sends out a weekly update informing the parents of week ahead. If you are not receiving this email please make sure to contact your child's homeroom teaching asking them to place you on the list.

Glenwood's next PTO meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 7 @ 6:30 in the Library
The mission of the Glenwood PTO is to promote and encourage communication between parents, teachers, administration and the community. The PTO also sponsors and organizes fundraising and school events, which deepen the community spirit and enrich our children's educational, social and developmental experiences.

Glenwood Art Displayed at Akron Children's Hospital
 Several Glenwood Art students have been selected to have their work on permanent display at Akron Children's Hospital. Akron Children's art consultant, Ron Beahn, selected 5 pieces from Glenwood students which will be on exhibit at the hospital. Students work will be professionally framed and each student will receive a $25.00 gift certificates for their accomplishment! Akron Children's not only serve the healthcare needs of the region's children, it also continues to provide a venue to showcase the creative talents of artists.

Parent -Teacher Conferences
 Glenwood's Fall Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming soon. Please be an active member on your child's educational team by scheduling a conference with your child's teachers. We encourage your participation and input. Please see the following dates and times to see what best fits your schedule:

Snap Shot of Education
Glenwood students are applying their knowledge of graduated cylinders to complete the Color Challenge Lab in 6th grade Science.

Plain Local Ski Club for Grades 5-8
Do enjoy the Snow? Have a love of whipping down the slopes? Then Plain Local Ski Club is for you.
Ski club will run on Sunday's PM starting January 11th through February 8th.
There will be an informational meeting at the Plain Local Community Branch library, GOHS, in the community room on Wednesday, October 15th from 6:30 to 7:30.

Collect Your Box Tops
 Ready, Set...Collect!!! The Box Tops program is back and BETTER than ever! Glenwood Intermediate will surpass its 2014-2015 goal of $3,000 with your help. A collection sheet of just 10 (count 'em, just 10) will come home and will enter your student into a monthly drawing for a gift card. At year's end, the top 3 students will receive gift cards, and the top class will receive a treat. There will be other give-a-ways during the year as well.

Technology is infused within Glenwood's teaching and learning. There is a link on Glenwood's homepage (to the left) labeled 6th Grade iPad Initiative. If you click there, you will find a FULL list of apps we are using. You can stay up to day as this list will be updated throughout the year.
