Hands-On Mission

As we turn the calendar to June, the assembly and collection of food buckets destined for Liberia is now in the transport stage.   Many hands and hearts throughout Morristown District helped to provide 700 buckets filled with food, which will be blessed along the way with a stop at Annual Conference and then to a ship to cross the seas.

Way to go, Morristown District.   You live into the Annual Conference theme of "Blessing."
Clergy Transitions -- Thank You!

Morristown District asks blessings for pastors as they transition this year to new opportunities to serve the Lord from their current appointments within the district.

Children's Ministry Gathers at Wetlands Water Park

Let's fill the water park in Jonesborough on Saturday, June 4, from 6-8 p.m. with kids and families from the Morristown District.   We will celebrate God's goodness with fun and food.  What a great time and place to get together and even to invite a few children from the neighborhood.  To help us plan food and drinks, we'd appreciate knowing the number of people who plan to participate by May 31.
2016 General Conference Wrap-Up

General Conference, the top policy-making body of The United Methodist Church, convenes once every four years.   It met in May 10-20 in Portland, Oregon.  The conference can revise church law, as well as adopt resolutions on current moral, social, public policy and economic issues. It also approves plans and budgets for church-wide programs.

You can read about the top issues, read a summary wrap-up, or track legislation at www.umc.org
Jubilee Project Celebrates its 25th Anniversary

Jubilee Project is celebrating their 25th anniversary with a series of 4 gatherings. The first one coincides with an annual Hoedown, June 30, from 4-7 p.m., sponsored by Centreville UMC from Danville, VA, and targets the Sneedville community. They are inviting our district churches to join in the fun by sponsoring a booth or activity for the celebration. However, no food booths please as that's Centreville's gift to the community.  If you're interested contact the office at 423-733-4195.

Information about other celebration events may be found here:  3 celebrations

It's Working for Us!

You are invited to share ministry efforts underway at your church.   By sharing efforts that "work," others may build from your beginnings.

Donna Archer tells us that Edward's Chapel UMC puts their quarterlies and Upper Room publications into a re-use program.   They label the cover with the church name and place them in nursing homes, adult centers, and medical facilities for others to read (with permission, of course).   They have been blessed by seeing people thrilled with the material and by relationships that have developed from this effort.
Choir Director Needed at Christ UMC

Christ United Methodist Church Greeneville, Tennessee, is seeking a part time Choir Director for our adult choir.   Sunday morning traditional worship as well as Wednesday night choir practice and any special services throughout the liturgical seasons.  Please contact Rev. Linda Bass @ 865-387-0063
