Hello there!
I am sitting in the office with about 10 layers of clothing and Colwin's super duper First Ascent Down jacket and wondering how on earth can I send you a newsletter about diving, imagining you okes going "Pftt, is this chick crazy - there is now ways I am putting my pinkie in cold water never mind submerging my entire body!" And I am laughing at myself cause frankly all I want to do is climb under the blankets right next to the heater, drink copious amounts of red wine and stare blankly at the TV in between snores!!!!
HOWEVER yes, there is a however, and that is that I have to lift my posterior from the warmth of the couch because I have a bills to pay L and that means I have to dive i.e. submerge myself in water. The honest truth yes that first trickle is really painful, uuurgghh just thinking of it makes me cringe lol, but once you have activated the internal heating system (think you all know what I am talking about) and smacked yourself in the face to deactivate the brain freeze, all the good things of diving come back! I know you think I am over-romanticizing, but then I know the couch story is also over romanticized and can get pretty boring after a while, unless you have a really good looking uuhhhmmm think I should stop right about now....
Back on track, for instance to really see what Miracle looks like, the best time is May-Aug, the water is crystal clear, and those with gruesome memories of a murky mud hole, will be surprised at how pretty it can be, so pretty please drag yourself from the comfort of your couch and join us for a night away from town, around a camp fire, drinking copious amounts of red wine J
Diving at the coast during winter is just as good, it is warm, let me repeat, it is warm. The sea is calm, visibility is great and you get to do fun stuff like the Sardine Run, there is a post on our blog regarding the Sardine Run and lots of photos on facebook. We are going back next year, make sure you save and book your spot.
So now that I have convinced your with my charm, our next trip will be to Badgat, yes we are camping, just remember fun, fun, fun and fresh air is what you need. Otherwise there is the Cape Town Trip which was a huge success last year and completely different diving. You will meet playful Seals, can play hide and seek in the Kelp or just join the Wreck diving speciality as there are a crap load of those around the Cape of Storms.
Next weekend is our next Social the theme is "What you wore when the ship went down" Craig Blignaut said he will be joining us with his pants by his knees and toilet paper in his hand - can't wait to see this one. Also we have an EFR Emergency First Response course during the day thus no travelling on cold winters nights. This is a Primary and Secondary Care with AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and the option of adding Care for Children.
Looking forward to seeing you around the dive school soon winter or summer!
Cheers Mandy
