Durban Diving Weekend
14-16 May

An awesome cheap, quick get-away for the avid scuba diver as well as the non diver. The diving in
Cooper's Wreck
Coopers Wreck
Durb's is fantastic and highly under rated in SA. Launching from Ushaka the boat rides are easy to various site including wrecks such as Coopers (one of my 10 best dives out of thousands), Fontao and T-Barge. Other than the diving the accommodation is at Happy Hippo a delightful, clean and friendly backpackers lodge just around the corner (literally a 5min walk) from Ushaka, meaning a lot of fun in the theme park and aquarium after diving.

We have put together a 3 night package but you could also make a quick 2 night weekend getaway!

Give us a call 011 958 2418 or email dive@scubaversity.co.za if you would like to book!

Some more oxygen anyone?

Nitrox, EANx, Enriched Air
Call it what you want but around divers it is almost like a drug!
Any way to get rid of that nasty Nitrogen. Now since not all of us are able to obtain ourselves lovely Rebreathers such as Gordon, Selwyn or Siggy...
Our best option to squeeze out longer dive times is to complete these courses so we can learn to enrich our cylinders.

Nitrox Course:        R750
Course Material:     R380

Advanced Nitrox Course
This is the fun part where you get to dive and dive really deep and dive really long!

ADV EANx Course:     R1200
Course Material:        R  485

P.S Anyone keen on trying a rebreather let me know I'll see if I can twist some rubber arms for a try-out session!

EFR  18 May

If most accidents, heart attacks, strokes, drownings happen at home why is that more people are not learning how to potentially save a love one?
A scary statistic. Are you prepared to deal with it? If you are a mother, father, child minder, brother, sister, niggie, neef, oupa or ouma, diver or non-diver. All of us should try to be equipped with the basic skills to help someone when EMS is not immediatly available

Rescue 8 June
The Rescue course is for divers, especially for the divers who feel they need more experience.
This course should be every, every, diver's ultimate certification goal. Most of you always say I first need to get some more experience before I do the Rescue course and I go Aaaaarrrghhhh! This course is the experience you need!

Just mention a "Deep Dive" amongst a group of divers and watch their responses. Those who are qualified to venture to the furthest depths of recreational diving show enthusiasm tempered with respect for the more serious nature of deep diving safety. There is something alluring, exciting and mysterious attracting divers to "Go Deep".

The PADI Deep Diver Specialty Course teach you the techniques that make recreational deep diving safe and fun. You will get to understand the effects of Nitrogen Narcosis, no-decompression limits and limited air supply in a controlled environment. Your skill and ability as a diver will improve as you practice deep diving techniques.

Sodwana
16-20 June

Diving with Mantas and Dolphins, Whale Sharks and Turtles on pristine reefs, chilling on the beach, watching the sunset over a beautiful lake, 4X4ing through rivers; and it's a Wetland Park!

Sodwana Bay is situated in the Greater St. Lucia Wetland Park, which gives it an un-spoilt and secluded feel. Not that we don't have a bit of a party! The Coral Divers camp which is situated within the reserve is entirely geared towards diving, which makes for a hassle-free diving experience.
Sodwana is rated as one of the top diving spots in the world, so come check it out if you haven't yet, and if you have already, then you know what you'll be missing out on if you don't!

So for the 10 of you that have reached the end of this newsletter, hello.
I have not done the Mandy talking a lot of non-sensical stuff for a long time, so thought I could entertain myself now because can you believe Colwin woke me up at 4am yes that is FOUR in the morning before the sun even looked like a sliver to finish this newsletter. It is now 9:30am and I am still working on it and I have the cheeck to tell people Colwin is the perfectionist! And yes the newsletter is far from finished but I now give up!

Around here things have been non stop as usual, half the year is almost gone winter is here and I am wondering what happened?

We have had some really awesome trips, socials and events and hopefully you have had the opportunity to join us on some of these.

Winter is knocking on our door and I know you okes "It's too cold" ja die ja ja ja. Winter is awesome to dive the viz is good and the fish keep still cause it is too cold to move!

So force yourself out of the house and come and visit us!

Lots of love
Mandy
