From David's Desk...
Dear Worshiping Warrior,
It's good to connect with you again. There seems to be more and more things happening with banners around the world. This newsletter features stories from Australia, the USA and a touch of Italy.
Be encouraged by Laurence's article on how prophetic worship is growing in Canberrra, the capital city of Australia. What happens in Canberra can affect the whole of the nation.
A taste of traditional flag throwing in Italy came to Baltimore recently. If you have done any research on the history of flag throwing in Italy and Switzerland I would love to hear about it.
I'm about to embark on a mission trip into a remote part of Australia where traditional Aboriginal culture still flourishes. You'll see a brief introduction to what I will be doing over the next four weeks.
If you've been holding off buying a banner this would be a great time! Because this missions trip is not likely to generate much income over the next month, we really would appreciate if you could buy your banners now. To assist you to do this, we are offering $15 off of any order over $100 during July and August.
We're also announcing the dates of a fantastic conference on movement in worship coming up in the Dallas,Texas area which will be a powerful experience.
Let me encourage you to keep moving forward despite the pressure. Even if you feel that you're not making progress, take your stand and face the direction you intend to move in. Do not back up, do not give up. The Lord is faithful. Get your banners out and use them and maintain your expectation for a shift.

Creative
Prophetic Worship in Canberra
by Laurence D. Smart Canberra, Australia
There was excitement in the creative
worship community in Canberra in the first few months of
2010 as "Prepare The Way" worship event was being planned for
April. This was to be a prelude to the big event - a
preparation of Canberra to receive the Prophetic Worship School which
had been held in various spiritually strategic places in the eastern
state of New South Wales.
 Canberra's weekend-long worship event
was to bring throne room worship to Canberra so that King Jesus would
be worshipped in a way that had not been done before in the city on
a large scale.
New flags and banners were purchased in
preparation, and others began to make flags and streamers specific
for the event.
Friday
night started with worship to live music accompanied by spontaneous
dancing and flag wielding. The first prophetic act was also undertaken, where three bare gates in the form of bowers symbolising the
gateways into Canberra had been constructed in the dance area. At the
designated time the
organising team began decorating these gates with coloured material
in preparation for the entry of the King.
Prior to this event teams of
worshippers with flags and banners had met at the north gate of
Canberra where they worshipped, anointed the ground and claimed that
city gate for the King. "Prepare The Way" was held strategically
at the east gate to Canberra City, so the event had the dual role of
claiming this entrance to the city for King Jesus.
When the bowers representing the gates
had been decorated, the people danced through them with streamers,
flags and banners, and
prophetically the worshippers stood side-by-side forming a wall
around the city, connecting the gates.
The guest speaker for the event, who
will also run the Prophetic Worship School, was welcomed and escorted
by the watchmen into the city accompanied by her chief intercessor.
The speaker addressed the gathering and spoke on the
threshing floor. Like the refining fire, threshing floor experiences in the Old
Testament are symbolic of refinement where the good is separated from
the bad, the desirable is kept and the rubbish is eliminated.
On the Saturday morning the second
prophetic act was performed to illustrate the lesson of the threshing
floor.
The workshops during the day were on
using signing (sign language movements) to express yourself in
worship; surrender to the King as a requirement for worship; how to
worship the King intimately; and having your priorities straight when
worshipping.
In the final evening worship time there
was a period of creative worship to live music with flags, streamers
and dance. A prophetic enactment of "The Bride and the Bridegroom"
was presented, with the Bridegroom rejoicing over the Bride with two 'blood' banners.
A
creative-style Lord's Supper was then enthusiastically undertaken. During this celebration,
a large flag with "LOVE" written on it was energetically waved prophetically over the people. The group
erupted into wild celebration at the conclusion with much dancing,
singing and the use of staves, flags and streamers.
The group gathered before a large model of the Ark of the Covenant and prayed for the unity of the church in Australia.
The event finished late at night with
the commissioning of everyone in the room, setting
them aside to worship the King and prepare the city of Canberra to
adore Him in throne room worship.

Banners in traditional Aboriginal culture
Imagine that your father and his father before him had guarded as sacred a banner colored by natural dyes. Imagine that this banner was considered sacred clan property and that for someone else to use it could bring swift punishment. Imagine that how the banner could be used, who could use it and when it could be used were all closely guarded clan secrets.
Imagine then that you discover a sacred book that contains similar descriptions of how banners should be used and that this book claimed to be the written Word of the creator of the world.
What would you do?
I'm about to go on a journey through six Aboriginal communities in northern Australia where clan banners have been used as part of their traditions for centuries. These banners were colored by octopus ink, soil, berries and other animal and plant dyes.
Christians in these communities have begun to use banners in a different way to worship Yahweh.
Please pray for me as I go to understand and explain the commonalities and differences of these two banner uses. This is an exciting development not just for the Christians in the local clans and tribes, but I believe for banner wielders worldwide.
Please pray for wisdom, sensitivity and protection as Gary Armstrong and I travel through the Northern Territory of Australia between July 29 and August 24.

Medieval pageantry from Italy
A group of drummers and flag throwers from Lanciano,
Italy recently visited the Baltimore, Maryland area while in the USA. The group re-enacts pageantry accompanying the 14th Century
fair in Lanciano authorized by Charles
II of
Anjou.
