Bulk Sales Relief
Governor Chris Christie signed S-2313/A-2748 into law on September 14. The bill exempts single-family and two-family residential dwellings, including seasonal rentals, from the bulk sale notification requirements. This spells major relief for many buyers and sellers as the requirements under the previous law were delaying and/or preventing some sales from being completed. The newly signed law restores the intent of the original law, which was to collect taxes from business entities before they sold assets or left the state, not to hamper residential real estate sales.
