Creating value for Nebraska's Career Education system

Partnerships for Innovation Newsletter
February 2012
Greetings!

It is rare that I find an article from my warehouse membership magazine that applies to the Partnerships for Innovation work; however, in this month's edition listed was a side article on taking time to innovate. Outlined in the Innovation Corner are those 5 skills The Costco Connection February 2012, pg.13 identified. According to the article, "Innovative CEO's at the world's most innovative companies spent 50% more of their personal time engaging in these discovery skills than CEO's running 'run-of-the-mill' companies."  With a little reconfiguring, I think we can apply those concepts to how we educate students and prepare them for a dynamic world of work.

This week is National Entrepreneurship Week (February 18 - 25, 2012). Many of us will never start our own business, but that doesn't mean we don't have an entrepreneurial spirit. Nebraska is filled with pioneers. If you are innovating and making change in a large organization you may be an intrapreneur!  Those intra and entrepreneurial skills are transferable and are found in the Nebraska Career Readiness Standards.

Sincerely,
