Have You Had Enough?
"Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters;
and you who have no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost.
Why spend money on what is not bread,
and your labor on what does not satisfy?
Listen, listen to me, and eat what is good,
and your soul will delight in the richest of fare."
(Isaiah 55:1-2)
We are poised at a critical crossroads for our nation as we draw closer to the Presidential election this November 6th. Many are saying that this election will radically redefine the direction that our nation is heading in, and tragically we are heading down a path that is further and further away from God. As we scan the political, economic, and spiritual landscape that looms before us like a polluted and plundered wasteland, it is easy to grow increasingly discouraged and at times even hopeless. However, what the enemy meant for harm the Lord is turning for good as more and more ministries are responding to these challenging and uncertain times by calling the Church to awaken and humbly seek the face of God; confiming that our hope does not lie in the man who sits in the White House, but rather the King who sits on the Throne in Heaven. "We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you" (2 Chronicles 20:12b).
Beloved of the Most High God, we are living in extraordinary times. We have a sacred responsibility to pick up the torch that has been handed to us by the first settlers who endured great tribulation and sacrifice to bear the light of Christ across the sea, our founding fathers who pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor for the cause of freedom, and generations of faithful followers of Jesus Christ who believed in the divine call on this nation and stood firmly in the gap and said, "we will not let the Light of the gospel of Jesus Christ be extinguished on our watch." The enemy is hard pressed in this hour to prevent the children of God from rising up and taking their position on the spiritual battlefield in prayer! Do not be confused - this is a spiritual battle and we can not wage war as the world does. "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds" (2 Corinthians 10:4). Our most powerful weapon and our greatest strategy is prayer. Our response in the coming days will determine if we truly have had enough.
I invite you to join with Trumpet and Torch Ministries and countless other ministries and faithful intercessors who will be taking our positions on the battlefield in prayer, and in humility before the Lord with fasting, for our nation these next 40 days. Our prayer is that you will discover a deep satisfaction and fufillment in Christ alone as you lay your burdens at the Lord's feet and bask in His Presence these next 40 days. We pray that you will re-discover that He is more than enough as He nourishes you with His Word. May these next 40 days lead to a spiritually stronger, healthier, more stable, and resolute Church whose lamp will be refueled with the Spirit's oil to light the way for this nation to continue to be a blazing torch of hope, life, liberty, and truth for the world (Revelation 2:4-5).
During times of fasting, it is vital that we feed the life of Christ within us with the Word of God (Deuteronomy 8:3). The Lord desires stable followers firmly rooted in His truth to carry His message of the gospel of grace to a world that is dying of spiritual hunger and thirst. We can not expect to feed and strengthen others when we are so spiritually malnourished and weak ourselves. The call to fast is a call to intimacy with God. The Lord is calling us to return to Him with all our heart and with the entire Body so He can nourish and strengthen us with His power for the task before us (Zechariah 4:6). Trumpet and Torch Ministries provides spiritual nourishment while you are fasting so that in physical weakness you can be made spiritually strong (2 Corinthians 12:9). During this season of fasting many "feasters" will be using our 40 day meal-by-meal prayer and fasting devotional,
EAT at the Table of the King as a helpful guide. This journey and other meal-by-meal fasting devotionals are available online at
www.trumpetandtorch.org at no cost. Simply click on LOGIN on the home page to enter the Temple and begin your journey with the Lord (see additional prayer and fasting information below). Book versions are available at
www.amazon.com (EAT at the Table of the King) and in our website online store (launching this week!).
May you find in all things Jesus is more than enough!
Blessings for the journey,
Sound the trumpet, ring the bell, take a stand,
"Liberty to the land and to the inhabitants thereof!"
