Hotel Parq Central Update
The next big thing in EDo is the conversion of historic Memorial Hospital (1926) to a 74-room limited-service, independent boutique hotel. Dave Oberstein and Marc Bertram, experienced developers from Santa Fe, told EN&V that it's "hurry up and wait. We are working through the paperwork with the various parties and the tax credit players. We hope to be in construction in the next 60 to 90 days." Good luck guys!

Bring Your Business to EDo
The urban evolution that is East Downtown continues to bring new residents and new businesses to our neighborhood. We have a number of excellent spaces being offered for lease on Central and on Broadway. Those spaces include five recently finished one-or-two-person storefront offices at 300 Broadway NE for $550/month complete. At that same location, we have four unfinished retail space locations of about 800 square feet each, with traffic counts of 20,000 cars per day. Ideal neighborhood tenants would be convenience grocery, deli, coffee shop, florist and salon. At 401 Central NE, we have unfinished retail spaces of 1,100 and 850 square feet, with traffic counts of 25,000 per day, and good pedestrian activity. Call us at 247-3935 to talk about bringing your business to EDo.

Own a Piece of History
Old Main was the first and only building at Albuquerque High from 1914 to 1927, when the second of what would be 5 buildings was constructed. In 1935, the Classroom Building became the third. Those two buildings were transformed from abandoned to beautiful in 2002, with the opening of The Lofts at Albuquerque High. For 7 years, the 70 lofts there were lease-only because of financing requirements. Now, we are offering a limited number of them for ownership. Classroom Loft 107, a former school office with soaring ceiling heights and original windows and doors, is offered at $143,500. Old Main Loft 308, a former school classroom with the same features plus an original wood floor, is $189,500. Old Main Loft 113, built into the former gym and auditorium volume, is a unique 2-level urban space with 1.5 baths, lots of cubic footage and original materials, for $239,500. City's Special Collections Library Getting Upgrades
This historic John Gaw Meem building at 423 Central NE is one of EDo's most overlooked and underutilized assets! Treat yourself to a visit to the beautiful reading room sometime. Over the next 60 days, the landscape will be upgraded with a conversion to native Southwest xeriscape, the sidewalk will be repaired, and some trees replaced. Over the next 6 months, the entry courtyard will be upgraded, and Botts Hall will get acoustic and lighting upgrades. Finally, the west face of the library and the adjacent alley are scheduled for some upgrades, thanks to Councilor Ike Benton and the Library System. |
