Dear St. Arnold's Army:
Galveston, oh Galveston, I still taste the beers I'm drinking, I still see your bar lights blinking, If you're over 21, come to Galveston. This Saturday, August 14 will be our annual Galveston Pub
Crawl. It's sort of an Oktoberfest
crawl, mainly because we have run out of Summer Pils. Here are the details on
the crawl: 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM We will be starting everybody at Fisherman's Wharf. In addition to tasty Oktoberfest and
other refreshing beverages, the Wharf will also be offering a seafood buffet (expected
buffet price will be around $15 per person if you're hungry). This is where you will get your pub
crawl ticket. Thus, you need to
make this stop during the allotted time period. Fisherman's Wharf is located at Pier 22, right next to the
Texas Seaport Museum where ELISSA is docked. (map) 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM During this period, we will be utilizing our open house
approach. You need to get your
ticket stamped at each of the three establishments below during these two
hours. And there will also be
sandwiches available at O'Malley's. O'Malley's Stage Door (They have great sandwiches
here!!!) 2022 Post Office St. (map) Molly's Pub 2013 Post Office St. (map) Old Cellar Bar 2013 Post Office St. (map) The last two are basically two sides to one building. 4:30 PM till we leave This is the stop that, if you have made all the previous
stops, you will have earned one of our special Saint Arnold Pub Crawl pint
glasses. There is pizza available
at this stop too. By the way, we
always bring a large but limited supply of pint glasses. Murphy's Irish Pub (Pizza available) 215 22nd St. (map) And remember that designated drivers are welcome and
encouraged on our pub crawls. If you decide to make a whole weekend of it, let us know
so we can tell you some other fine establishments where you can find our
excellent beverages!

Saint Arnold Weedwacker
is being released next Monday, August 16
Next Monday, the first release in our Moveable Yeast
series will be coming out. Weedwacker is the result of our pitching Lawnmower wort (wort is the
unfermented beer) with Bavarian Hefeweizen yeast. Weedwacker will be available draft only, so you will need to
find your favorite pub or restaurant to sample the beer. We are encouraging establishments to
offer Lawnmower and Weedwacker side by side so that you can really experience
the effect that different yeasts have on beers. Beginning Monday, August 16th,we will have Weedwacker available on our weekday tours at
the brewery also for about a week (or until our stock here runs out). We will NOT have Weedwacker available
on the Saturday tours. Sorry about
that. We didn't brew enough for us
to be able to offer it to Saturday crowds. We also made
just of handful of casks of Weedwacker that we dryhopped with Amarillo
hops. Some of the casks were
dryhopped with 1 oz and some with 1.5 oz. Unfortunately we cannot tell you where these casks are going, nor do we
have any control over who gets the 1 or 1.5 oz hopped casks. The casks are labeled so each
establishment that has one of these casks should be able to tell you what the
hopping rate for their cask is. Here is a short 2 minute video on the dryhopping:
While we can't tell you
where the Weedwacker kegs or casks are going, Ronnie Crocker at the Houston
Chronicle has none of these constraints. Watch his Beer, TX blog next week as he will probably prove to be a
fountain of knowledge: http://blogs.chron.com/beertx/

NPR fans take note: Paula Poundstone & Ira
Glass are coming to Houston Yes, we listen to "Wait
Wait... Don't Tell Me" and "This American Life". In fact, somebody here at the brewery even has Carl Kasell's
voice on his home answering machine. So it makes sense that we are involved in the following two events:
Paula Poundstone will be
at the Alley Theater on Saturday, August 21. Ira Glass will be at Jones
Hall on Saturday, October 9. With a $125 donation to KUHF, you can get a ticket to one
of these events plus an invitation to the pre-party with Ira Glass or the
post-party with Paula Poundstone. More information on these events at: http://bit.ly/d7IlwQ

Sales of our Saint Arnold
beers were up 26% during the first half of 2010. Thanks for all of your support! Without you, we'd be just a bunch of frustrated homebrewers.
Cheers!
