Highly Visible Consumer Promotion to take Place in Partnership with Epicurious.com from September to December
 
Each month, Epicurious.com receives 5 Million unique visitors, 7.5 Million visits, and 45 Million page views.  Its user demographic is 73% female, with 60% of users falling between the ages of 25 - 54, right in the sweet spot of our prime target market.  In addition, the Produce for Better Health Foundation's research shows that Epicurious.com is among the top five online recipe resources for Gen X and Gen Y moms. These demographics fall directly in line with the Pear Bureau's target audience for promotions.
 
Through this partnership, Epicurious.com will conduct a pear recipe contest among its 5 million monthly visitors, and will
promote USA Pears through special events along with branded channels on the popular Epicurious App for iPhone and iPad.

"The Perfect Pear" Recipe Contest on Epicurious.com
 
The recipe contest will be hosted on Epicurious.com, and this is a proview of the home page for the contest. Visitors to the site can move their mouse over different pear varieties to show the variety's name and a brief flavor description.

Designed to engage and educate consumers about the varieties and culinary versatility of USA Pears, this 16-week long promotion will have a consumer recipe contest at its core.  Visitors to Epicurious.com will have the ability to post an original recipe that uses fresh USA Pears for a chance to win the grand prize of a Pacific Northwest spa getaway. 
 
Entries will be accepted between Sept. 20 and No. 7.  Then, from Nov. 22 to Dec. 31, the winning recipes will be spotlighted with rotating ads on Epicurious.com. The contest entry page will include not only an entry form, but also educational information about the different varieties of USA Pears with recipes and flavor profiles, as well as ripening and usage tips.
 
Epicurious will be driving traffic to the contest with ads on its home page and also on interior pages within relevant content sections like Entertaining, Recipes, and Seasonal Cooking.  In addition, Epicurious will dispatch contest announcements to its e-newsletter distribution lists that reach more than 800,000 subscribers.
USA Pears on Epicurious iPhone and iPad Apps
 
The Epicurious iPhone AppThe Epicurious App is one of the most popular Apps available to iPhone and iPad users.  Three million users have downloaded the iPhone App to date.  With the advent of the iPad, the App has been adapted to the larger screen iPad format which allows even greater functionality, and recently reached the status of being the topmost downloaded free lifestyle App for the iPad.
 
Epicurious is offering USA Pears access to its food savvy App users via highly visible branded recipe channels as well as ads that appear as users browse the App's content.  The USA Pears content will appear on the iPad App from October through December, and on the iPhone during the month of December alone, which is also the month that the USDA annually declares as National Pear Month at our behest.

The USA Pears consumer recipe contest will be further promoted with Epicurious Entertains, a four-day culinary event taking place in New York City from September 30 - October 3.  USA Pears are being highlighted as a partner in this event, which features celebrity chef-hosted dinners, cooking demonstrations, sampling, and themed experiences that appeal to a range of consumers, from foodies to families with young children.
