Rudisill Parish Hall Floor Refinishing 

A reminder that as part of our summertime sprucing of the physical plant, the parish hall floor will be refinished next week, the week of July 16.  Please note that no classes or meetings can be held there during this time.  The project will be complete by Saturday, July 21.

Reverend Sandino Sánchez Visit: July 15
This Sunday, July 15, we will welcome, as our guest preacher at all three services, the Reverend Canon Sandino Sánchez from the Dominican Republic.  Fr. Sanchez is known by many St. John's parishioners who have been involved in our diocese's companion relationship with the Dominican Republic. 
Fr. Sánchez is vicar of three congregations, San José, Santo Tomás, and the new mission congregation Monte de Sion (Mount Zion).  He is also rector of the San José Episcopal School and the Bishop Isaac Home for the Elderly.

Your Prayers Needed: Triennial Episcopal Convention 

The triennial Convention of the Episcopal Church is meeting in Indianapolis now through July 12.  Please include in your prayers the bishops and deputies gathered there, asking, as we are praying during church services, that "God's Spirit may infuse their hearts and guide all their deliberations and decisions." 

Candle in the Sanctuary Light Available 

The candle in the sanctuary light is available on Sunday, July 29.  Please contact the parish offices at 259-1570 or parish@stjohnstampa.org if you would like to take this opportunity to worship God and support St. John's.

Faith Café Needs Clothing

Faith CafePlease make a donation of t-shirts, lightweight pants, jeans, and walking shorts in sizes L and XL, as well as running shoes, to the men of Faith Café. Donations may be brought to the parish offices. The closet at the Café is nearly empty right now and the men are in great need of hot-weather clothing as our sweltering Florida summer continues.

Wednesday Nights at St. John's
Following a shared potluck dinner, Diana & Jack Overton will present the continuation of a series on parables, including a short DVD movie, commentary by the Overtons, and discussion by the group.

When Jesus taught about life's toughest issues, he used short, simple stories. Rob Bell's modern "parables" on film follow his lead, featuring concise, powerful 10- to 14-minute DVDs. Jesus lived with the awareness that God is doing something, right here, right now, and anybody can be a part of it.  He encouraged his listeners to  search, to question, to wrestle with the implications of what he was saying and  doing. He inspired, challenged, provoked, comforted, and invited people to be open to God's work in this world. Wherever he went, whatever he did, Jesus started discussions about what matters most, because for Jesus, God is always inviting us to open our eyes and join

This Sunday morning, July 15, we will not only have Father Sandino Sánchez preaching at all three services, we will also hear a Ministry Moment about the Dominican Development Group at the 9:00 a.m. service, presented by Robin Adair.  Learn more about our outreach efforts in the Dominican Republic, including the progress on construction of a new church in Santa Fe.  Then join us in the Garth after the service for refreshments and more information!

Sandwich Sunday (Rudisill Parish Hall) Please join us between the 9:00 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. services to assemble sandwiches and bag lunches for the needy at Faith Cafe.  A big thanks to our hosts,  Laura Silva and Margit Williams.

The Roundtable (School Library, upstairs)
The Roundtable will meet throughout the summer in the school library between services on Sundays.  The group looks at secular issues in the news today and discusses them in relation to the Church and our Christian duties.  The discussions are very lively, intellectual, and respectful, and all are invited to join.

The Contemporary Women's Bible Study  

(Peterson Room, St. John's School Middle Division)

The group's study of Isaiah continues this Tuesday morning. Women of St. John's and their friends are invited to join this dynamic group for prayer, lively discussion, faith and fellowship.  After a light breakfast, scripture and selected topics of interest are explored in new and creative ways.  Members take turns serving as facilitator.  Contact Kathleen Moore at 221.6253 or kathleenmarymoore@gmail.com with questions.
