Easter Day in St. John's Church
Hundreds of worshippers were drawn to St. John's Church this Sunday to celebrate the pinnacle of the Christian year, Easter Day. A brass quartet in the church, accompanying the Combined Choirs of Men, Boys and Girls at 9:00 a.m. and the St. John's Ensemble at 11:15 a.m., helped create a festive, joyful atmosphere on this 100th Easter celebrated in St. John's Church, Tampa. Both festival services were highlighted by the choirs' performances of Magnificat in C by Bryan Kelly, with its upbeat Latin American rhythms. A sermon by our Rector reminded us that "all you need is love" is not enough when you do not have Christ's forgiveness.

In Rudisill Parish Hall, the child-centered service included an interactive sermon from Mother Taylor and children helping as ushers and reading the lessons.  Two Easter egg hunts followed the 9:00 a.m. services, as did a reception with many kinds of goodies, from eight kinds of deviled eggs to brownies and cupcakes to finger sandwiches.  The Garth was graced with a lovely flowered cross that we all as a parish created, as well as more music from the quartet, on a day when the weather could not have been lovelier.

Thanks to Ginny Lindquist for organizing the reception, to all parishioners who contributed snacks and filled Easter eggs, to the Youth for hiding Easter eggs, and to all the children who participated in the Parish Hall service.  Thanks as always to our fine musicians, clergy, staff, and volunteers for all the work that goes into making Easter such a special celebration.

Kamaiba News

Message from Head Boy

Kamaiba Primary School, Uganda

St. John's Sister School

I, the Head Boy, congratulate all the pupils of Kamaiba Primary School for the trust and love you have for me. I thank all our friends and well wishers especially the friends of St. John's Church for all their loving care. We are better than other schools in the municipality because we have a good library because of St. John's, we have a solar light system because of St. John's, we have desks because of St. John's, we shall always say thank you.

We are proud of our active and committed teachers who are doing a great deal of work and are sacrificing their leisure time for the Kamaiba pupils to have a bright and happy future. Kamaiba is successful because of the friends, the government of Uganda, the parents and the pupils. Primary Seven students are taking exams and need the time for athletics. Your prayers will make us succeed.

Bwambale Kadolo Samuel, Head Boy
