Mission Possible Raises More Than $2,000 for SJE Mission Work!

More than 40 performances by over 100 children from St. John's Church and School wowed the audience at the 2012 Mission Possible Talent Show, held Sunday, March 11, at the school's Middle Division Gym. Our talented children played instruments like piano, violin and guitar, sang songs, did tumbling and dance demonstrations and even created skits and stand-up comedy routines to help raise money for our friends in Uganda and the Dominican Republic. Thanks to Leland Baldwin for organizing and introducing the acts, as well as to Debra Schrils for being Leland's co-emcee, and to Rick and Maggie McClintock for their directorial and stage management assistance.

Let There Be Light: Solar Panels at Kamaiba School

In a place with no reliable electricity, the solar panels donated by St. John's Church and School have made it possible for students to study in their library even past dark. Above you can see the Reverend Benjamin Bwambale, Kamaiba Head Teacher, flipping the switch to turn on the lights. Also above is a photo of one of the panels that sit atop the library building. Our ministry makes a real difference in the lives of the students and you will hear more about it in the months to come,

Past and present Kamaiba sponsors are invited to join us for a celebratory dinner on Sunday, March 25, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM in the Rudisill Parish Hall.  Come hear about the recent trip and about the success stories from Kamaiba that are happening thanks to our help.  Later this year, a parish- and school-wide Ugandan dinner and celebration is planned to recognize the 50th anniversary of Uganda's independence on October 9, 2012.  RSVP by Wednesday, March 21 to Peggy Curlin at  pcurlin@verizon.net or 813.287.0176. There is no charge to attend. We hope to see you there.

Action Needed
Please Complete the Visioning Survey!
The St. John's Visioning Group sent out a survey last week to gather feedback from St. John's parishioners on various aspects of our church life.  Your participation is important and will be helpful to the Visioning Group in identifying areas of focus and in formulating specific recommendations as St. John's enters its second century.  The survey was sent to your e-mail of record.  If you did not receive the survey, please contact the Parish offices to confirm your email address.  For those who do not have access to a computer, hard copies of the survey are available in the Parish offices.

The Holy Eucharist - St. Joseph (The Chapel)

Feast Day Facts: The feast day for the spouse of Mary, March 19 was dedicated to Saint Joseph in several Western calendars by the tenth century. It always falls during Lent and is traditionally a day of abstinence. St. Joseph's Day is also the day when the swallows are believed to return to Mission San Juan Capistrano after having flown south for the winter.
