The Lenten Dinner Series will begin on Wednesday, February 29 with a group discussion facilitated by Paul Game about "What Lent Really Means to Us," how we change our behavior and why, and the historical foundation for this practice. Who Is Forgiveness For, and What Do We Get When We Give It?

Wednesdays, March 7, 14 and 28, Dinner: 6:00 PM, Program: 6:45 PM

The Parish Hall

A three-part series facilitated by Arthur Taylor. Forgiveness fits perfectly into our Lenten season. But how does it fit into our own lives, our relationships, and our personal sense of right and wrong? Please join together around these challenging questions in a series about what the American theologian Reinhold Neibuhr calls "the final form of love." A home-cooked meal will be provided and child care will be available.

Lenten Meditations

Many of your fellow parishioners reflected on selected passages from the Bible, and the results of their prayerful thought has been captured in the 2012 Lenten Meditation booklet. Please pick one up at the Church this week, or download the booklet as a PDF from the church website at www.StJohnsTampa.org.

Music at St. John's

Palm Sunday, April 1, at 5:00 PM

The Church

The adult choristers of St. John's Choir will present a concert performance of Gabriel Fauré's Requiem. Composed between 1887 and 1890, this famous and haunting setting of the Roman Catholic Mass for the Dead is the best-known of his large works. The most famous movement is the soprano aria "Pie Jesu." In 1924, the work was performed at Fauré's own funeral. It was not performed in the United States until 1931, and only then at a student concert at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia. Do join us for this concert, which will be a fitting way to mark the beginning of Holy Week.

100 Reasons to Love St. John's

"I love St. John's because we have four incredibly bright and gifted priests. Father Doug, Father Randy, Father Chip and Mother Stefanie send powerful, relevant, inspiring messages in their sermons each week, which make me look forward to returning next week!"             -Dr. John Reffue

Submit a sentence or two about why you love St. John's and we will feature your entry in the Scroll. We hope to create a list of 100 reasons to love St. John's in honor of our Centennial.  We also hope parishioners will share their memories and photos so that we may share them with the congregation. Send submissions to
LLowry@stjohnstampa.org.
Action Needed
Car Damaged After Sunday Services

On Sunday, February 26 around noon, a car parked on the street across from the church was damaged. The rear view mirror came off as a result of contact with a passing car. If you know anything about this incident, please contact the Church office. We want to be good neighbors and respect our fellow block residents so we can maintain the positive relationships we have formed over the years.

Wanted: Home Visitors
Do you have the time to visit a home-bound parishioner one or more times per month? Please contact Mary Hulse at mmhulse@tampabay.rr.com with questions or to give your time. Our parish family needs you!
