St. John's Annual Meeting,Vestry Vote and Brunch this Sunday
Combined 10:00 AM Service
Don't miss the St. John's Annual Meeting on Sunday, January 22 after the combined 10:00 AM service. The Annual Report will be distributed, and there will be discussion of the 2011 finances as well as the election of four new vestry members for 2012. Brunch will be served.
There will be activities for the children and youth groups.

 JOIN us for the Kids' Gasparilla party at the Discovery House at 1:00 PM this Saturday. This is a wonderful event for children to gather and eat and watch the parade together.

St. John's Middle School Youth Mission trip to Daytona Beach
 St. John's Middle School Youth Mission trip is June 17 - 22. We will be traveling to Daytona Beach and will be working within the community. Projects range from home repair to teaching vacation bible school to locals. The goal of the trip is to reach out to those in need while learning to be Christ like and disciple focused. We will also find time to picnic with those that we help and take trips within Daytona Beach for fun and fellowship. If you are interested, please sign up with Mother Taylor by January 19.

YOUTH CONFIRMATION - IT'S NOT TOO LATE
The next class is on Sunday, January 29th
 Confirmation classes in St. John's Episcopal Church for young people who are in at least the sixth grade began on Sunday, January 15th. The classes are part of the Sunday School program, meeting in Discovery House from 10:15 - 11:00 a.m. The class schedule is available on the church's website. Parents should attend the first class.  Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow "Faithful to all Generations" is our 2012 Every Member Canvass theme, which is taken from Psalm 100, verse 5: "For the Lord is good: his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations." Now that 2012 has arrived, many of us are focusing on a new year and what it has in store for us. As many of you know, St. John's Church is celebrating its Centennial (1912 - 2012) this year! Please join us and your fellow parishioners to ensure that St. John's not only survives, but flourishes during the next 100 years by calling in your 2012 Every Member Pledge! Please take a few moments to consider prayerfully your pledge to St. John's Church for 2012. Your promise to support our parish financially will help St. John's continue to provide a strong and vibrant spiritual home for our community of believers and to pursue our mission of ministering to those in spiritual and physical need. Please remember that parishioner giving accounts for 100 percent of our parish's budget! Annual pledges are critical to our ability to cover the expenses of our daily operations and minister to those both within and beyond our parish. Outreach Committee & Friends of Uganda
 The January Outreach Committee meet in the Lowry Room. On the agenda will be a discussion of activities for the 2012 year, including the Friends of Uganda Committee (which is meeting with Outreach) and the February trip to Kasese, Uganda. Meetings are scheduled for the fourth Monday of each month during the school year. Scheduled dates (which are subject to change) through May are: February 27, March 26, April 23 and May 28.

Contemporary Women's Bible Study
Our study of the Gospel of John will continue through March 20. On March 27 we will begin a study of Isaiah.
CWBS meets on Tuesdays from 6:45 to 8:00 a.m. in the John Peterson Adult Education Room at the St. John's Middle School campus, 240 Plant Ave. All women of St. John's (and their friends) are invited to join this dynamic group for prayer, lively discussion, faith and fellowship. After a light breakfast, scripture and selected topics of interest are explored in new and creative ways. Members take turns serving as discussion facilitator.

The Women's Midday Bible Study
The Women's Midday Bible Study will meet in the John Peterson Adult Education Room at the Middle School campus (240 Plant Ave.) to continue our study, "God Calls Us Then and Now: Meeting Women in Scripture." Flossie Adams, previously director of Christian education at St. John's, will guide our study of Miriam using Exodus 15:19-21 and Numbers 12. Flossie is a gifted Biblical storyteller and will introduce us to Miriam as the early Israelites came to know of her, through the oral retelling of our history as God's people. There will be opportunity for discussion and reflection, as well.
Whether you were able to attend our first meeting of the new year or not, please consider joining us. Each session is enlightening and meaningful and we look forward to welcoming you.
