100 Reasons to Love St. John's Continued

1.  There are so many ways to get involved, with friendly folks to help you along the way!

2.  The sanctuary is so beautiful and awe-inspiring, and this changes my mindset to one of gratitude to God when I enter it.

3.   Simon is the best, but the revamped organ really makes a difference!

-MC Jenkins

Bible"God Calls Us, Then and Now: Meeting Women in Scripture" will be the new curriculum focus for the Women's Mid Day Bible Study beginning Tuesday, January 17, 2012.  Not only will it be exciting to embark on a new area of study, but we will be drawing on the knowledge and gifts of some of our members and a former staff member, as well as ordained women, to facilitate our study.  We are looking forward
to enhancing our study in new ways and invite all interested women to join us as we delve into the lives of three Old Testament and five New Testament women.  Please consider joining us in 2012 on alternate Tuesdays at 11:45 AM - 1:00 PM in the John Peterson Room at the Middle School campus.  A sandwich and salad lunch is available at a cost of $5 by emailing Joan McKay at mckayjhm@aol.com.  For more information call Sally Wiley at 253.3906.

Please email or call if you have questions.

THERE WILL BE NO MEETINGS ON DECEMBER 21 OR 28 for the Wednesday Covered dish Dinner and Program:

The Journey: Walking the Road to Bethlehem, a video, will be shown during group sessions beginning again on Wednesday, January 4, 2012.

The video leads the attendees over a course of sessions to examine the geographical, cultural, and historical settings of the events that resulted in the birth of the Christ Child and, ultimately, to help participants see themselves in the story.

The focal Scripture texts will be Luke and Matthew's accounts of the Annunciation, Mary's visit with Elizabeth, Joseph's dream of an angel, the walk to Bethlehem, and the visits of the shepherds

and, later, the magi.

On January 4, Session 3 considers Mary's visit with Elizabeth. Session 4 will look at the actual journey to Bethlehem. Session 5 will take us to the manger and to the shepherds' fields.
