Have you ever wanted to try foods or other products before they go to market? Have you ever wanted to tell consumer goods companies what you think of their products? The Sensory & Consumer Research Center at K- State Olathe is looking for consumers of all ages to test and give their feedback during day and evening studies. Kansas State University Olathe is celebrating our one-year anniversary this month on April 26.  We have had an outstanding first year, with over 10,000 people through our doors.  Many thanks to Olathe, Johnson County taxpayers, our alumni and friends for a year full of partnerships and progress.
Activity Highlights

  • The US-China Center and the Urban Water Institute are populating their labs. The website for the Urban Water Institute will launch this month.
  • Masters programs will begin roll out this month, with enrollment already in place for the Masters of Adult Education.  These programs will be announced on our first anniversary, April 26. Watch our website and the news for details!
  • The Johnson County Research Triangle & K-State Olathe was featured in a major story in the Kansas City Star in March.  Click through to take a look.

  • The Summer Teacher Workshop, presented by One Health Kansas, will offer a unique, graduate level experience to 20 Kansas teachers, who will also receive scholarships to attend. Read more here
  • The Life Science Lecture Series has reached over 175 area students and teachers so far this spring, with four more yet to come. Slides and videos from past lectures are here.

  • Educators planning curriculum for the coming academic year should be sure to check out our K-12 outreach programs, which build on the STEM curriculum.  There are numerous opportunities to have you at K-State Olathe, or K-State can come to your school.

Food Programs & Services
BryanK-State Olathe will be teaming with the Olathe Parks & Rec Department to offer two series of culinary classes this spring and summer (April through August): Farmers Market Food Fun and Food Fun with Kids.

Sensory & Consumer Research
MarianneMarianne Swaney-Stueve, manager of the new Sensory & Consumer Research Center, is working diligently to build a database of consumers interested in being panelists in upcoming studies of both human and pet nature.  If you're interested in being a paid participant, please contact Marianne. The center also has a new page on Facebook.  "Like" the page to get all the updates, and information on upcoming studies.
We're proud to be at home in Olathe - take a look at our town - and watch for some great footage of K-State Olathe, too (at :24 and :37)!
