Dear Log Rolling Friends and Family,

School is out and SUMMER IS HERE!  Hopefully by now everybody has had the chance to do a bit of outdoor rolling.  If you are lucky enough, by now you may even have the permanent seaweed and lake water smell in all of your clothing...

Summer 2010 is filled with lumberjack events; practically every weekend!  As a competitor I very much look forward to the travel and competition, but most of all, I look forward to seeing all of my log rolling friends once again.  My lumberjack "family" has been with me for as long as I can remember, and now, I don't enjoy anything more than seeing new log rolling friendships blossoming. Sure the competition is fun, but I think most of us can agree the greatest memories are the crazy things we do before and after the competitions and who we spend that time with.

Here is to a summer full of fantastic competition and wonderful friends.

Sincerely,
Shana Martin

Win a Log Donated by Lumberjack Enterprises!

In 2010, profits and donations from the championships will be donated to the Huntington's Disease Society of America Great Lakes Region (HDSA-GL).  Huntington's Disease is a hereditary, degenerative brain disorder that slowly diminishes an individual's ability to walk, think, feel, talk, and reason.  The disease usually strikes young adults between the ages of 30 and 40, but children as young as two have developed the disease.  Right now 1 in 10,000 Americans are at risk for this disease, which there is currently no effective treatment or cure.

Money raised for HDSA-GL by the Midwest Logrolling Championships will go directly to researching possible treatments and cures, regional patient and family care, and regional family and community education.  HDSA's national and international research will also benefit people with diseases related to Huntington's - diseases such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and many dystrophies.  The TEAM who raises and/or donates the most money in addition to their entry fee will receive a log donated by Lumberjack Enterprises!  The highest individual highest fundraiser will win an ipod nano!  Then, based on amount of money raised, we will let competitors pick from various prizes including theme park tickets, gift certificates, shirts, and more! All competitors and volunteers will go home with a prize!

Set up your online donation page at: http://www.firstgiving.com/hdsa-greatlakes  and start collecting donations TODAY!  Please make this page YOUR OWN - add a photo of you log rolling and some personal words about how you want to WIN THAT LOG!

What will I get for coming all the way down to Madison?
Top three in each division will receive a unique award (surprise!) and other fun prizes donated by local businesses!  Throughout the competition random competitor names will be drawn for prizes such as gift certificates, hats, etc.  Plus you get another chance to improve your ranking for the 2010 USLRA Super Series!  And don't forget, if you are the highest donating competitor, you'll go home with an ipod nano or log for your team!

What will we eat?
Madison Logrolling and Trader Joe's will provide a BBQ with all of the meat, buns, and fixins'. Feel free to bring drinks and side dishes!

Do I have to be a USLRA member to compete?
Yes!  Please visit http://www.uslogrolling.com for a registration form.  A $5 day pass is available, but USLRA rates are cheaper than ever in 2010!

Who can run the boom?
Anybody over the age of 18 or already competing in a professional division can sign up for the boom. Spikes are required.

Do you need any volunteers?
