Dear Log Rolling Friends and Family,

Yet another summer flew by faster than imaginable. I hope you all had a fantastic log rolling season full of good competition and great friends.  I want to personally thank all of the folks who worked hard to put together the twenty (yes twenty!) tournaments of 2009.  I also want to thank all of the volunteers who made these tournaments possible.  Because of the small size of our sport, it is imperative we all work together to make our events successful.

As the world of log rolling slows down during the colder months, USLRA is working hard to improve our rules, ranking system, communication, and overall plan of work for 2010.  To do this we need your help.  We are having our annual membership meeting on November 14th, immediately after the November Nationals Log Rolling Tournament.  I highly recommend attending this meeting as it will be essential for 2010 planning.  Before the meeting, a draft of the 2010 rules and rankings will be e-mailed out to the membership.  We encourage you all to look these over and add your input on not only the rules and rankings, but other items you would like USLRA to focus on.

The US Log Rolling Association continues to promote the sport of log rolling through the USLRA Charitable Fund.  The Fund Board hosted their first meeting in September.  We have almost $3000 to help start and support log rolling programs around the country.  If you know of a facility that may need some financial help in beginning a log rolling program, please contact the USLRA Chartable Fund Chair Larry Waite at lwwaite@wisc.edu
Again, thank you all for making this such a wonderful season.  KEEP ROLLIN'!

Sincerely,
Shana Martin
USLRA President

How did you get involved in Log Rolling?
I started log rolling when I was two or three because my dad taught the class and I wanted to do it.

What is your favorite log rolling memory?
When I won the World Championships the first time because it was the most competitive tournament I had ever rolled in.

Who are your log rolling mentors?
My biggest logrolling mentors are my dad because he coaches me and brings me to tournaments and my brother Torrin because he practices with me.

What is your favorite competition?
My favorite competition is the log Rolling World Championships because you get to stay for the weekend and all your friends are always there.

What other activities are you involved in?
I play on a U-11 basketball and soccer team, I do tae kwan do during the summer and I cross country ski race.

Anything else you would like to share?
When I am out of school I love to read, play trombone, and I am in boy scouts.
Competitor ID
Just a reminder about the competitor ID card rate in 2010:

Competitors are required to hold a Competitor ID Card, good for life as long as a membership as a competitor or associate is maintained.  If you received your Competitor Card this year (it was free of charge in 2009), please remember to renew your USLRA membership in 2010.  As of January 1st the charge for the Competitor ID will be $25
