CONFEST: October 6, 2012
A high-impact, low-cost event for junior high youth who are involved in confirmation ministry across the Southeastern Iowa Synod. Participants will be informed and inspired about how the whole church makes a difference in the world and how young people can connect with God's mission locally and globally. The same event will take place in two locations simultaneously from 10am to 3pm on Saturday, October 6. The locations are Redeemer Lutheran Church in Indianola, IA and Bethany Lutheran Church in West Branch, IA. The cost is just $10 per participant.

2012 Iowa Hunger Summit: October 16, 2012
The Iowa Hunger Summit is held each year during the World Food Prize's week of events in October at the Des Moines Marriott Downtown. It kicks off the events, preceding the Norman E. Borlaug International Symposium, also known as the "Borlaug Dialogue." The Iowa Hunger Summit gathers several hundred leaders from across Iowa representing community organizations, business and industry, state and local government, social agencies, churches and religious communities, schools and universities, and other groups that lead or participate in projects to confront hunger.

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is a longstanding expression of the ecumenical movement- a worldwide movement among Christians to heal divisions within the Church. Each year from January 18-25, Christians are encouraged to pray together as a sign of the unity that is already theirs in Christ.
