Religious Leaders in Iowa Sign
Global Climate Change Statement

Iowa Interfaith Power & Light

Des Moines, Iowa-Iowa Interfaith Power & Light released "A Statement by Religious Leaders in Iowa on Global Climate Change," which was signed by 54 clergy and other faith leaders representing 13 different religious traditions and 41 congregations or organizations in Iowa.

The statement reads, in part, "Climate change is one of the most pressing challenges facing our world today, and as religious leaders representing diverse faith traditions we are called to reaffirm our commitment to be responsible stewards of Earth's resources and to act in love toward our neighbors both locally and globally."

LSI Announces New First Circle Friends Ministry Opportunity        Kara Ullestad, First Circle of Friends Coordinator

Many of us know someone - a spouse, parent, grandparent or friend - who has been affected by early- to mid-stage memory loss. What if both caregivers and people with memory loss could join a new circle of friends that would enhance their quality of life?

LSI (Lutheran Services in Iowa), a shared ministry partner of the Iowa synods of the ELCA, is excited to announce LSI's First Circle Friends, a creative opportunity for churches to support their neighbors who may be facing these issues.

Stewardship Round Table Events

If you are thinking about a fall stewardship program, or if you are in a year round stewardship emphasis, May is a great time to bring a team of leaders to a "Stewardship Round Table:  Options and Resources for New Stewardship Practices". Two new stewardship ministry resources will be introduced at these evening events.  We invite you to attend - any of the four locations across the Southeastern Iowa Synod.  In addition, stewardship leaders from area congregations will tell about the effectiveness of resources they have used in their contexts, and there will be time for you to share your best practices and ideas.  The event is free so please join us!

World Malaria Week

ELCA Malaria Campaign

In the ELCA, we're challenging members to turn World Malaria Day into "World Malaria Week" and raise $200,000 between April 25 and May 1 (including your congregational offerings on April 29) to launch work in Liberia - where malaria accounts for 30 percent of all deaths seen in hospitals.
