Stewardship Round Table Events

Pr. Gloria Dovre, Director for Evangelical Mission

If you are thinking about a fall stewardship program, or if you are in a year round stewardship emphasis, the month of May is a great time to bring a team of leaders to a "Stewardship Round Table: Options and Resources for New Stewardship Practices". Two new stewardship ministry resources will be introduced at these evening events. We invite you to attend any of the four locations across the Southeastern Iowa Synod. In addition, stewardship leaders from area congregations will tell about the effectiveness of resources they have used in their contexts, and there will be time for you to share your best practices and ideas.

Wellness Abounds at CTIM 2012

The Rev. Dr. Scott Beebe giving the keynote address at CTIM 2012.

Wellness is a community effort. The 21st annual "Called Together in Mission" (CTIM) was held Saturday, March 10th, at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. The Rev. Dr. Scott Beebe, 2012 CTIM keynote speaker, took us on a journey - "Living in the Whirlwind: Discovering Elim", an ancient and fresh concept of being well. The bible study was centered on identifying and stewarding the spiritual gifts God has given each of us. Both the keynote and the bible study provided resources that can help individuals and congregations explore faithfulness and wellness.

As communities of faith we are gathered for rest, for shelter, for

life, for koinonia and for sharing stories that remind us who we are. We are gathered to learn, to be empowered, and to be sent as God's witnesses in a world that was created by God's own gathering hand. Led by Rev. Dr. Audrey West, join us as we gather to explore some of these many ways that we are "Gathered by God." Learn more.

Luther Academy of the Rockies

June 18-28, 2012
Luther Academy of the Rockies is Wartburg Theological Seminary's premier LifeLong Learning educational program for rostered leaders and their families. Located at Meeker Park Lodge in Colorado is an old time, rustic, mountain lodge surrounded by housekeeping cabins. The daily rhythm of worship, mornings filled with scholarly lectures and forums, afternoon free time to explore the scenery, and evening fellowship opportunities structures the time together. This year's speakers are Drs. Paul Scott Wilson, Stanley N. Olson, and Ann Fritschel; they will address the theme "Reading, Teaching, and Preaching the Biblical Message in the 21st Century."
