People of Faith Form Circle of Protection Around Hungry People
Representatives of Bread for the World, Ames; the Des Moines Area Religious Council; and the Iowa Director for CWS met January 27 in Des Moines to confer with Congressman Tom Latham, calling on legislators to form a 'Circle of Protection', protecting the poor and vulnerable while drafting the 2012 Federal Agriculture Bill. For more information regarding faith-based advocacy work and The Circle of Protection, read The Rev. David Beckmann's article on Bread for the World's website by

Discounts on ELCA Health Contributions
Portico Benefit Services, a ministry of the ELCA
Portico Benefit Services is offering us the opportunity to earn a 2% discount on ELCA health contributions again in 2012. Each congregation and organization in the Southeastern Iowa Synod will receive a 2% discount on health contributions if 65% (178 people) of our eligible ELCA-primary plan members complete the confidential Mayo Clinic Health Assessment January 1 - April 30.
In 2012 we could collectively save $38,000!
If you have ELCA-primary health coverage, this savings depends on you. Take the 2012 Mayo Clinic Health Assessment on the EmbodyHealth web portal at www.elcaforwellness.org January 1 - April 30. We'll be one person closer to 65% participation, and you'll earn $150 in your personal wellness account to offset out-of-pocket medical costs.
Instructions for taking the assessment are available in the Understand My Benefits section at www.elcabop.org.
