Peggy Burnside reported that the monkey survey related to Senate Bill 100 has been created, but TML asked TMCA to delay deployment of the survey until mid to late September.
TMCA President Mary Kayser informed the membership it will be important for municipal clerks to stay in front of Senate Bill 100. Although many election administrators are committing to provide election services in 2012; this does not guarantee future agreements. The legislature will not be aware of the concessions made by municipalities; e.g. additional polling locations, increase in costs, expenditures for election equipment, etc. If they see successful elections, they will consider there to be no problems; therefore no concern on the part of our legislators. We need to be prepared for the next legislative session.
Here is an interesting article that ran in the Star Telegram on Saturday, August 20. The title says it all...Confusion reigns over Texas' 2012 election calendar.
