Supra Bill

Display Key Users:   Supra has sent out a 6-month invoice for $90.32 to all Display Key Users.  Supra's invoice was mailed to each agent's office address.  Supra sent out a separate bill for $25 to those agents who signed up for insurance. Payment is due on September 13, 2012. By approximately October 3rd, Supra will deactivate keys for which payment has not yet been received. Supra will send out a second notice (to agent's home addresses, if previously provided to Supra) with the exact cut-off date. The Supra payment system is computerized, so be sure to return your payment with the payment coupon (only one payment per check, per envelope).  Payments are to be made to Supra directly and can not be made at the RVAR office.  Supra also had the option of Agent Web Pay that can be accessed 24/7 at their secure site at
supraweb/suprakim.com

NOTE:  Next February, Supra will send out a 12-month invoice.  Thereafter, all Supra invoices will be for 12-month periods.

eKey Users:  eKey users are billed monthly and have provided payment information to Supra upon switching to the eKey.  Anyone upgrading to an eKey prior to the invoice due date (September 13th) will not owe any portion for their Display Key invoice-- provided the Display Key has been returned to the RVAR office before the invoice due date.  Upon return of the Display Key to RVAR, the Display Key invoice will be removed from the agent's Supra account.

RPR Training Comes to Roanoke and the Lake

The Roanoke Valley MLS has joined with REALTORS® Property Resource (RPR) to provide a powerful, new MLS tool -- which will appear as a menu item within FlexMLS beginning mid-September. RPR is NAR's exclusive online real estate database, which merges Roanoke Valley MLS data with a robust catalog of publicly available data on 147 million parcels (residential and commercial.) This NAR member benefit is free of charge -- and for REALTOR® eyes only. Examples of data include: public records, mortgage and lien data, flood maps, drive time overlay maps and neighborhood reports.
RPR is offering four free training classes -- two in Roanoke on September 19th (10AM or 2PM ) and two at the Westlake Golf Club on September 20th (10AM or 2PM ). The training will show you how to navigate the RPR website (works on your smartphone, too!) and create customized reports to impress your clients and customers. Make the most of this new, free MLS tool!

Home Sales Continue to Improve

The first seven months of 2012, as compared with the same period in 2011, reflect an 3% increase in the number of homes sold, a 1% increase in the average homes price and a 14% decrease in inventory. The MLS releases its monthly home sales statistics around the 15th of the following month (since brokers and listing agents are given 10 business days following settlement to change the status of MLS listings to Sold). A link to the monthly statistics, along with a 3-year comparison, is provided on the front page of RVAR.com.

Safety Tips

Most safety tips for REALTORS® focus on your interaction with buyers and sellers. But when was the last time you considered the security of your own home? These easy tips should help deter would-be burglars.

Check out www.REALTOR.org/Safety for more tools and tips to keep you personally and professionally safe.

Required Ethics Training

NAR requires all REALTORS® to complete 3 hours of Code of Ethics training every four years. The current four-year cycle ends December 31, 2012. RVAR is offering three Code of Ethics training classes in the coming months to help members meet NAR's deadline. RVAR's classes, taught by John Dickinson, will not only meet NAR's requirement but will also provide 3 hours of CE credit for license renewal.

Click on the following dates to register or for more information: September 6th (9AM-Noon at Westlake), October 15th (9AM-Noon at RVAR) and November 15th (2-5PM at RVAR). Can't attend these classes? NAR offers a FREE online class (though it does not provide CE credit.) NAR automatically notifies RVAR whenever an RVAR member completes the online class. (NAR provides both a residential and a commercial version of this online class.)
