We would also like to highlight our great employees. We thank them for all their hard work and dedication to our Moo Roo customers. The following employees have been with us since the very beginning:

Sheila Wetherell, manager: Sheila has been with us for five years minus some time taken off for medical leave. Her favorite part of Moo Roo is her love for the customers. She says it's like having a BIG family! They are the best. (Plus, she has weakness for ice cream!)

Kayla Rath: Assisting customers and interacting with the Hansens is Kayla's favorite part of working at Moo Roo. She has been with us for five years, minus sometime for military leave.

Rebekah Pakala: Rebekah has enjoyed fun times with fellow employees and customers during her five years of employment at Moo Roo. Rebekah and Laura are sisters.

Laura Pakala: Laura has been with for five years and her favorite part of Moo Roo is working and interacting with customers. She has also worked at our Outlet in Cedar Falls. The Hansen family and staff would like to congratulate Laura and Abe on their upcoming marriage.

Welcome to the newest member of the wallaby family. That's right, she is an Albino! She is 4 years old and hopped in on a cargo plane from New Jersey on May 23. Do you have a suggestion for her name? Post it on Facebook or e-mail jordanhansen@ hansendairy.com.

Farewell to our Outlet manager, Maggie Strom. Maggie has been with us since September and we thank her for insights, great ideas, and always having a friendly smile. We also would like to welcome our new Outlet store manager, Eric Cornish. Stop in and meet Eric on his first official day, June 13.

We also welcome Stacy Fitzpatrick, our summer intern from Iowa State. She will be working with Hansen Dairy throughout the summer learning the many aspects of our family business.

June's Cow of the Month is actually a whole family. The 'S' family began with Sand, who was purchased as an embryo and born on the farm in 2002. She has had 4 heifers and 1 bull and is due again July 26. It is pretty rare to have 4 natural daughters milking in one herd, so she has paid for herself multiple times over. Sand also has 4 granddaughters and 1 great-granddaughter.

DAUGHTERS:
Sadie has had 2 heifers and 2 bulls and is due Nov. 21 with her fifth calf. Sammy has had 2 bulls and 1 heifer. Sydney has had 1 heifer, 1 bull and is due again July 4. Shiloh is due June 14 with her first calf. The total milk production out of this family is 323,798 lbs, or 37,650 gallons!

All of these cows are still going strong and are a real treat to work with. They are very friendly and have a nice disposition in the milking parlor. The 'S' family was about to become extinct but Sand breathed new life into the herd.

Grilling out this summer? The USDA has just changed the required internal temperature for cooking pork to 145 degrees Fahrenheit. After cooking/grilling, set aside for 3 minutes before eating. Stop in at Moo Roo in Waterloo or Hansen's Dairy Outlet in Cedar Falls for all your grilling needs.

June is Dairy Month, but in our book every month is dairy month! Celebrate by taking the family out for ice cream at Moo Roo or the Outlet, taking a hands-on tour at Hansen Dairy or by simply keeping dairy in your diet. Try this new recipe!

Easy Four Cheese Lasagna
Prep time 30 minutes; cook time 45 minutes; serves 8

Ingredients:
16 oz. uncooked lasagna
1 (26 oz.) can of spaghetti sauce
1 lb. cottage cheese
8 oz. shredded Mozzarella cheese
8 oz. shredded Cheddar cheese
1 c. of grated Parmesan cheese

Directions:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add pasta and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain. In a blender or with an electric mixer, blend tomato sauce and cottage cheese together. Spoon a little of the sauce mixture in the bottom of a 9x13 baking dish. Place a layer of cooked noodles over the sauce and sprinkle a portion of mozzarella, cheddar and parmesan over the noodles. Repeat layer of sauce, noodles, and cheese; finish with a cheese layer. Bake in preheated oven for 30-45 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
