It's almost summer
|
|
Summer hours began at our stores May 1. Moo Roo is
open until 10 p.m. every day now. The Outlet remains
open until 9 p.m.
Remember Hansen's for all your graduation and summer
grilling needs. We have lean ground beef patties and
other chicken, pork and beef cuts. Don't forget the
cheese!
If you're looking for a fun summer activity, come on down
to the farm! Pick up a brochure at our stores or visit our
web site (link can be found at left). Prices are $10/person
for a hands-on tour (milk a cow, feed a calf, make butter
and have ice cream) or $6/person for a walk-through
visit. Make a reservation by calling (319) 939-2187.
Hansen's also encourages you to support our local
farmers' markets. They are now open! Stop in our stores
to find a listing of all the markets in the area.

Manager change
|
|
Thank you to Andy Sheets, our longtime manager at Moo
Roo. He has left for a new job in New Mexico. We have
appreciated having him on board. Best of luck to him!
Sheila Wetherell is now back to manage our store. She
was our original manager when Moo Roo opened for
business and stayed until she was diagnosed with
cancer. Sheila has fought the disease and now is back to
work. Welcome back!

Cow of the Month
|
|
Danish
|
Danish is May's Cow of the Month. She is 5 1/2 years old
and is quite a hard worker. She has given us 95,083
pounds of milk - 11,081 gallons - in her 3 1/2 years of
production. She holds the herd record for most gallons
produced in one day at 16!
Danish is a wonderful cow to work with. She is on the
"Locater List," which means she is ranked among the
top 5,000 cows in the U.S. based on her milk
production and type (what she looks like). Right now
she is producing 120 pounds/day and is just getting
started in this lactation. She will produce around 140
pounds a day soon!
