Happy Easter

April 12th

Both the Moo Roo and Outlet will be closed on Easter so our employees may enjoy the day with their families.

Celebrate Easter with a delicious ham from our stores. Both stores carry hams from Delaware Co. Meats. These hams are processed by Edgewood Locker. We have smaller hams available currently if you would like to check them out. Larger hams are available but need to be ordered by Tuesday, April 8 to receive them in time for Easter. Just a reminder that the Delaware Co. products do not contain MSG (Monosodium Glutanate) and are Gluten free.

Help Wanted

Moo Roo and Outlet

Both stores are looking for help. If you are looking for work and are available during the evening hours or weekends and some days at the Outlet in Cedar Falls or the Moo Roo, please inquire at the stores.

Chocolate Milk

Coming this month!

Chocolate milk will be here soon! We're waiting on labels and caps. It will be on the shelves at both stores hopefully this month. It was decided to process a 1% Chocolate Milk with 1/2 the sugar as regular chocolate milk. It will be available in 1/2 gallons and gallons.

A gallon of chocolate milk contains about 1/2 a pound of sugar equivalent. A lot of processors are using high fructose corn syrup as their sweetener. Our chocolate milk will be thinner and the taste will be cleaner, due to low levels of stabilizers and no added chemicals such as silicon dioxide.

We appreciate all those who took time to taste samples and offer feedback. We welcome and value your thoughts.

Summer Hours

Coming soon

Summer hours will be going into effect when the weather warms up. Watch for the announcement.

Price Changes

Savings for customers

Our supplier for our American Cheese Slices (3#), String Cheese, and the 8 oz shredded mozzarella & cheddar has lowered his prices, and we have passed the savings on to our customers.

Grilling Season

As warm weather takes over, the grills will be heating up. Why not try some brats, hot dogs, pork patties, pork chops, ham steaks (Delaware Co.) or Hansen's hamburgers or bacon-burgers. A reminder about Hansen's hamburgers: The meat is very lean, so remember not to overcook them as they will dry out.

Farm Tours

Book yours today!

The tours are getting to be popular. Groups are beginning to sign up for the spring and summer. Brochures are available at both stores or check out our website: hansendairy.com

Cow of the Month

Array
array

Array is April's cow of the month. Array is special because she helped herd manager Blake Hansen propose to his wife, Jordan, on April 15, 2004. Array, led to the house by Blake, carried the engagement ring around her neck. Ever since, she has been like part of the family! Array, who is 9 years old, has given birth to 7 calves with number 8 due July 30. So far she has had five heifers and two bulls. She is a fun cow to work and play with --- friendly but feisty! In her career on the farm, Array has produced 147,698 pounds of milk. If we sold her milk for 7 years at an average price of $3.20 per gallon, she would earn $54,957.

Sampling Days

A March success

Many people took advantage of samples at both locations on March 15. Delaware Co pork was sampled, along with all-natural soy oil, candies, butter, and several varieties of cheese, Should we do these samplings more often? Let us know.

Around the Globe

Hansen's bag & souvenirs to Japan

A customer at the Outlet in Cedar Falls headed to Japan to visit a friend and took along a red eco-bag with Hansen's Farm Fresh Dairy printed on the side with a brochure and magnet. Her friend was very excited and chose to carry her cat in the bag. Our red bag, which just have the black lettering with no logo reminded her of the Chicago Bulls. She wondered why we didn't use our wallaby!

Thanksgiving

Planning ahead

Though Thanksgiving is a ways off, we are planning ahead. Tim Daley, a customer from New Hartford, will be raising turkeys and having them available for our enjoyment by the big day. The turkeys:
**will be pasture fed
**will not be fed hormones or antibiotics
**will weigh between 14 - 16 lbs.
**will be delivered to both stores frozen
**price yet to be determined
If you are interested, please place your order at either Moo Roo in Waterloo or Hansen's Outlet in Cedar Falls.
