Peculiar Way interchange to open SOON
Ribbon cutting ceremony was Sept. 13
Residents will have to wait a little longer to enjoy the access available when the I-49 and Peculiar Way interchange opens.


During a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sept. 13, it was announced that the interchange was not quite ready - but was expected to open officially to traffic within the week.


The City of Peculiar and Missouri Department of Transportation hosted the event, which included performances by the Ray-Pec Panther Pride marching band and comments by Superintendent Dr. Kari Monsees.
RPHS Homecoming is tonight, Sept. 16
Pre-game broadcast begins at 5:30 p.m.; Dance is Saturday night
Raymore-Peculiar High School Homecoming activities include a pep assembly, pre-game broadcast, recognition of Distinguished Alumni, football game, and a dance.



The pep assembly is scheduled for 1:52 p.m. today in the main gym of the south high school.


Alumni and staff are invited to a tailgate party, sponsored by the Raymore-Peculiar Public School Foundation, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Panther Stadium parking lot.


Sideline Sports Talk's High School Game Day will be at the stadium for a pre-game broadcast to begin at 5:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to come out with signs to participate in the pep rally-type event that will include the Panther Pride Marching Band.



The Homecoming football game, against St. Joseph Central, begins at 7 p.m. The Homecoming Queen and underclass attendants will be announced at half time. Also during half-time, the Foundation will honor its 2016 Distinguished Alumni Award recipients.



The Homecoming dance is scheduled from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at the south high school. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Homecoming King and male attendants will be announced at the dance.

Two National Merit Scholarship semi-finalists

Two Ray-Pec High School seniors have been named semi-finalists in the 62nd annual National Merit Scholarship program.



As semi-finalists, Nick Caskey and Jacob Shriner represent the top 1 percent of the state's senior students.



Nick and Jacob now have the opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth about $33 million that will be awarded next spring.

About 1.5 million students across the nation enter the National Merit Scholarship Competition annually when they take the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Approximately 50,000 students are identified as "high scorers" and 16,000 of those are semi-finalists. Semi-finalists are named based on the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
