Greetings!

Save the Dates for 2014-15!

Kent's 2014-15 season is announced, and you are invited to read the news here! Some highlights:

  • Verdi's Requiem in a Unique Collaboration
  • Early and New Music in Great Music in a Great Space at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine
  • Tenth Anniversary Season with Oratorio Society of New York
  • World Premieres of Works by Filas, Gilbertson, Paterson, with Musica Sacra
  • Manhattan School of Music Chamber Choir at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • More New York Synergy: Musica Sacra with Orchestra of St. Luke's

Highlighting the season is perhaps Kent's most ambitious program yet at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine: a performance of Verdi's Requiem by the Oratorio Society of New York and the Symphony and Symphonic Chorus of the Manhattan School of Music in a new choral configuration for more than 250 singers in the cathedral's Great Choir. Kent's tenth anniversary season with the Oratorio Society of New York features performances of Haydn's Creation and Orff's Carmina Burana; with Musica Sacra he conducts three new works in their world premiere performances; and he leads the Manhattan School of Music Chamber Choir in a performance of David Lang's Little Match Girl Passion at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Also on the schedule are Kent's annual organ recital at St. John the Divine, and a special return appearance with The Dessoff Choirs, where he was music director from 1996 to 2004, on that group's 90th anniversary concert. And of course there is Messiah in December.

Some of these highlights are noted below; click here for the full 2014-15 schedule.

So, save the dates now and stay tuned for ticket on-sale notices! But before the 2014-15 season gets underway, you can catch Kent later this week at the Berkshire Choral Festival, where he will lead the participants and the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Elgar's Dream of Gerontius on August 2.

Have a wonderful summer!
