Gladys Hinson was a faith filled women who had a dream to start a children's home in China. When word of WWII came, she was unable to travel to China. At first she felt as though her dream was unattainable then the Lord spoke to her and opened her eyes to the idea of a children's home being in America. Shortly after, the property in Hot Springs was found and what we know today as COMPACT Family Services had its beginning. Join us as we take a look back to 1945, one year after the home was opened and hear straight from the heart of Gladys herself. It is evident through this article how much faith Gladys had.

Gary Nelson joined COMPACT Family Services in October of 2013 and since then has been a tremendous blessing to our team. Gary moved here from Washburn, WI and how he came to be here is nothing short of an intervention from the Lord.

In 2011, Gary's pastor told him about Hillcrest Children's Home in Arkansas, and asked Gary, the Missions Director of his church at the time, to do some research about it and present it to the congregation. Gary felt a trip to Hillcrest was necessary and arranged one. A team was scheduled to come but Gary was unable to be a part. One year later, a second trip was arranged and Gary knew he needed to go. In May of 2012, while on the trip with his church, God laid it on his heart and confirmed that this was where he was supposed to be. Gary says he had no doubt that God wanted him here. READ MORE

Our campus lost a great man this month. While our hearts are sad, we rejoice because we know Mr. Bill is in heaven and has received his ultimate healing. Long time friend and co-worker, Ervin, wrote a beautiful piece in honor of Mr. Bill.
"When we've been there ten thousand years, bright shining as the sun, we've no less days to sing God's praise than when we've first begun."
Throughout my life, I've probably muddled those words at least a thousand times, not really taking the time to appreciate deeply what the words revealed.
I was attending the memorial service for Bill Hircock, a fellow servant at COMPACT Family Services Agency, where I heard this song. Bill and his wife Jan came to be a part of our Campus in 2005 moving from Minnesota. Bill came with the desire to help our kids at COMPACT learn the art of wood crafting while also tutoring math after school.
As the years would pass, Bill would take on many hats- helping to butcher and smoke all our meats; growing fresh vegetables from his garden; building and repairing furniture; and many times, when short a cook on campus, Bill and Jan would step in and lovingly make delicious meals. Needless to say the children grew to love him and respect him with great admiration. READ MORE
