On multiple occasions during the concluding months of this past year, the Lord challenged this leader to re-submit all ministry plans to the leading of the Holy Spirit. Both in personal devotions and through the ministry of others, God echoed the need to trust the Holy Spirit's leading.
At the conclusion of a message by Pastor John Lindell at the Assemblies of God Centennial Celebration at the JQH Arena in Springfield, MO this leader stood and joined many others shouting "By My Spirit" in faith to the LORD.
God has given this ministry a rich history. That rich history is not only the claim of many lives redeemed; it is the foundational claim for a bright future. God has called this ministry to serve the growing need. It is a significant challenge, but God can. We have committed ourselves to meet the challenge. The Holy Spirit can make it happen. He has the authority and power to do it.
We are believing God for growth on all sides in 2015.
"Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts." (Zechariah 4:6)
Thank you for believing with us, praying with us, and supporting us so faithfully!
Respectfully,
Jay Mooney
Executive Director

MEET THE BURDENS
This month we are pleased to introduce you to some of our most recent Houseparents to join our team. Michael and Elizabeth Burden are a great addition and they bring joy and talent to COMPACT. The Burdens joined our team in June of 2014, right as summer was kicking off. Although summer is our busiest time of year, the Burdens say that it is still their favorite time at COMPACT. The summer days are great times to enjoy each of the kids in their cottage without the stress of homework and school. It is also filled with lots of missions groups and visitors from all over the United States and they find it very enjoyable to meet each of them.

The Burdens, natives of Missouri, were attending a wedding one weekend when a family member shared with them about COMPACT Family Services and all that happens here. They learned about the mission of helping broken and hurting children and their hearts were filled with compassion. They immediately went home and began researching all they could find about the ministry. From reading testimonials to exploring the pages of the website, God gave them both confirmation, in multiple ways, that this is exactly where He was leading them. They soon arrived in tow with their sweet 1-year old son, Liam. READ MORE

We had the privilege this month of meeting the children of Madison J. Groves and Bernice Groves Thompson. To most, this would seem like a typical visit that we often get at COMPACT from people all over the United States, but to COMPACT, the Groves family is very dear to our ministry.

In 1944, when Gladys Hinson began the process of starting what was then known as The National Children's Home of the Assemblies of God, she leaned heavily on her friendship with Madison and Bernice. She would often visit their home and share her desire and vision of what a children's home would be like in the U.S. On one of these visits, the Groves children remember their parents and Gladys kneeling at the piano bench in their living room and praying for God to supply all the needs to start such a home. The Groves daughter, Carolyn, shared in an article that her mother also did not object when her father suggested they mortgage their home to help purchase the property where Hillcrest stands today. New years resolutions are something that is popular each year, especially in January. Often times they lead to healthier lifestyles, develop habits for a closer walk with God, while others provide direction in finances. Consider starting a resolution this year to aid in the care and support given to a child in Foster Care.
Here at COMPACT, we are a 97% donor based ministry. Without sponsors, we would not be able to provide the around the clock care to each of the kids on our campus. Through child sponsorship, you can partner with us.
Make a commitment this year to sponsor a child in 2015. For as little as $30 per month, you can help us help a child in need. For more information and to sign up, go here.

Each month, we receive numerous requests on what our biggest needs are at COMPACT. We update a complete list and keep it on our website but from time to time, we have specific current needs. As of right now, that includes:
Wal-Mart and Visa Gift Cards
Bath Towels
Pillows
Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash
Deodorant
Cereal
Actual goods as well as monetary donations are appreciated to help meet these needs. To see the entire needs list, click here.
