LEADERSHIP MATTERS
AES meets with heads of states and government leaders during UNGA Week 2016

For AES, maintaining strong, proactive and consistent relationships with all of our stakeholders is important to ensure that our assets are able to operate efficiently and to support the expansion of our energy solutions platforms.

As a service company, governments are a critical stakeholder for AES. One of the various channels that we enhance positive relationships with them is through our participation in the annual United Nations General Assembly Week (UNGA Week), which allows the AES Executive Leadership team (ELT) to reach out to decision makers in the countries in which we operate.

World leaders have been gathering in New York City for last 60 years every September to discuss challenges and opportunities for global security and development.
BECOMING AN ENERGY STAR
Additional tools to help you manage your career launching soon

Last year, we launched Workday, our global system of record that empowers you to manage your career, performance and development at AES. As part of our Energy Star efforts, we will launch new features to manage our recruiting, onboarding and absence management processes. We will also launch a mobile application on October 3.

For recruiting, managers will have a more interactive role in the recruitment process. AES people will be able to view all global positions through Workday, and external candidates will be able to access our positions through SBU-specific career sites. We have also developed a global recruitment brand to provide a common and consistent way for us to attract top talent across each of our markets.

In addition to recruitment, new hires will share a common global onboarding experience to make them feel welcome on their first day. With a new onboarding portal, new hires will have all the information they need to succeed at AES right at their fingertips.
CYBERSECURITY
Monthly cybersecurity message from
Scott Goodhart

When an AES leader emails you and asks for an emergency wire transfer, it is likely that you would do what you were asked and send money. When you receive an email like this, the best thing to do is to not click anything in the message.

Requests such as this are phishing scams called CEO Fraud. This type of fraud has begun appearing in some of our email boxes. With this scheme, an email is sent in hopes that the receiver will wire money to accounts controlled by criminals. Since the email appears to be from an leader, it gives a sense of urgency to the recipient. The follow-up email with details makes it seem legitimate.

If you receive a request to wire money and is outside of normal procedures, then "Think before you click." It would be odd if the CEO were to send someone an email to wire money because AES has established processes to send money. If a request seems out of the ordinary, stop and ask questions. Be sure to review the return email address carefully for inconsistencies like "aes.co" instead of the official "aes.com".
Always be cautious since majority of cyberattacks that bring down networks begin with one person clicking on a malicious website link.

If you receive this kind of email, please contact your local cybersecurity team.
WIN EVERY WEEK
San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) Aliso Canyon Advancion sale wins Speedy Award

Congratulations to the SDG&E Aliso Canyon Advancion sale solution project, managed by the US SBU, for receiving this quarter's Speedy award. The project is AES' largest and fastest solutions sale ever with the installation of 37.5 MW of four hour duration Battery Energy Storage Solution in SDG&E's two sites in San Diego, California. This project entails design, construction, commissioning and O&M services to SDG&E.

The team, led by Kate McGinnis with support from both the US SBU and the Energy Storage team in Arlington, secured the project in weeks compared to the usual process which takes months or even years. The teams worked hard to clear barriers and define new territory both in design, delivery schedules and commercial arrangements. The solution sale continues to promote the dominance of AES in the California and energy storage markets. The deal is a strong demonstration to our stakeholders that AES has all the capabilities and technology to serve the evolving energy market.

The project team is includes of Kate McGinnis, Eric Pendergraft, Dax Kepshire, Kristen Joe, Valerio Lombardo, Stephen O'Kane, Piers Lewis, Dauren Kilish, TJ Winter, Maria De Laiglesia, Colleen Lueken, Casey Jacobson, Paul Karaffa, Jeff Gibbons, Cara Rodriguez and Jean Luc.

AES participated in Argentina Business and Investment Forum

AES Argentina recently participated in the Business and Investment Forum headed by the Argentine Minister of Energy Juan José Aranguren, and representatives from the government and the energy industry.

During the forum, Argentina's need for investments ranging from US $20B to US $30B to fix their energy sector was discussed. The forum agreed that stable long-term regulatory policies as well as installation of new capacity would help Argentina solve its energy issues.

Martín Genesio, Market Business Leader in Argentina, shared that "there has been a change of mentality" in how the energy industry is moving and people are interested to invest. He said that the changes in the industry are good business opportunities to explore for AES. Martín said that greatest challenge now for the country is to have stable and long-term regulation for the industry.

The Business and Investment Forum is a project of Argentina President Mauricio Macri to support the country's goal to increase Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and relaunch itself as a significant emerging country.
