BECOMING AN ENERGY STAR
Creating a common global HR experience

On this week's Quarterly Update, Chief Human Resources Officer Tish Mendoza discussed how the HR team accelerated their transformation to better support our people and be an energy star. As part of those efforts, Global HR and Internal Communications recently aligned itself into three key areas: HR Business Partners and Local HR, Centers of Expertise or COEs, and HR Shared Service Centers. HR Business Partners and Local HR will implement HR strategy locally aligned to our global approach. Centers of Expertise will set strategy and develop solutions in key areas including Benefits, Executive Compensation, Global Compensation, Global Mobility, Talent Management, Human Resources Information Systems, Internal Communications, and Training and Development. HR Shared Services Centers will help AES people get the information they need with one global contact. This realignment will ensure AES people receive the best HR experience to help them manage their career and development at AES. Launch dates for the new service delivery model will vary by SBU, and in some cases, by country. Additional information will be provided closer to Go-Live for targeted audiences.

Brazil SBU creates Platform to accelerate and support innovative project

The energy sector in Brazil is going through a great transformation. These changes bring new opportunities for AES to explore creative and innovative ways to improve the sector's efficiency, reliability and productivity. The Brazil SBU recently launched the AES Brazil Innovation Platform that aims to bring ideas that lead to results.

AES Brazil entered into partnerships with other companies to accelerate startup projects using Research and Development program resources. Through this platform, AES hopes to identify projects focused on improving the electricity energy market, which in turn will improve lives. At the end of the program, two projects will be selected by AES Brazil and will be provided with the needed resource and support for implementation.

OUR PEOPLE, OUR ENERGY
AES TEG-TEP celebrates AES culture and Values

AES TEG-TEP in Mexico, part of the MCAC SBU, held a family celebration with the theme "Yo también soy AES" (I am AES too).  The celebration aims to recognize AES Values with AES people, contractors and their families. AES people's children toured the plant and participated in activities related to safety and the environment. Volunteers at the plant taught kids about the safe way to use electricity at home and the precautions used when working at a plant. At the end of the activity, kids stamped their fingerprints on cards as part of an activity called "Safe Hands." These pieces of artwork will be framed and placed in their parent's work area to remind them to work safely every day. Kids also learned about their responsibility towards the environment by planting 20 Soyate trees through an activity called Environmental Mini-Heroes. Soyate is a local tree in danger of extinction in the Tanchipa Mountain Range, where TEG-TEP is located. To remember their visit to the plant, kids also stamped their hands on fresh cement that hardened later that day for their parents to be reminded that their kids and spouses expect them back home every day.
